Have you ever heard a good band do a terrible cover that just makes you wonder what on earth they were thinking? Here’s a good example: Duran Duran trying to cover Public Enemy’s “911 Is a Joke”.
I was a fan of Duran Duran back in their heyday, and I also like some of Public Enemy’s songs, this one included. But I have never had any desire to hear one do the other’s music. And now that I have experienced it, I know without a doubt that I could have gone the rest of my life without it.
What’s next, Public Enemy covering “Hungry Like the Wolf”? I hope not.
