Beasts Of The Southern Wild is a film that most people won’t have seen. But it clearly made an impression on those who have seen it, especially those who decide what films are nominated for Oscars.
The film is about poverty in the southern states of the U.S. after Hurricane Katrina devastated the lives of many. But it’s seen through the eyes of a child, with poetic allusions entwined through the story.
I haven’t yet seen Beasts Of The Southern Wild, and, if truth be told, I hadn’t even heard of it prior to today. Whether it wins any Oscars or not it’s certainly on the radars of many more people as a result of the nominations.
