The X Factor is now at the halfway stage of the live finals, and the contestants left are the best in the competition. Well, that’s the idea, but John and Edward have somehow managed to make it to the last six.
This week’s show saw their performance injected with a little bit of talent for the first time. Not because they’d improved overnight but because Calvin Harris decided to invade the stage while wearing a pineapple on his head.
I applaud Harris for doing this. It’s funny, original, and despite what Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh (who branded Harris “some idiot from the audience”) might suggest it is also big and clever.
The fact is that Jedward are completely untalented, whereas Calvin Harris is not. And Harris didn’t stick around or attempt to ruin their performance, instead doing his thing and then leaving the stage promptly. Bravo.
