Canelo Alvarez came out the victor over Austin Trout and successfully unified the WBC and WBA titles with winning scores: 115-112, 116-111, and 118-109. The WBC’s grand open scoring was in effect, so viewers on TV were able to find out that after eight rounds, Trout who produced scores of 26-1, 14 KO, was dramatically out of the fight.

Canelo did serious damage with moves that put Trout on the floor in the 7th round by a well placed right hook that brought Trout to his knees. This being the first time Trout has been brought down in his whole career. However, like the good sport he is, he had no harbored no hard feelings and responded pretty well even with some watchers feeling he did well enough in the round to have earned a 9-10 score instead of 8-10.

An intense, close fight, this match-up delivered in the ring as it should have, equaling viewers feelings of anxious anticipation. And no one could say otherwise to a fight this awesome.
