Jimmy Kimmel likes to issue pranks to his viewers from time to time. The last I saw was his instruction to parents to pretend they had eaten all their kids’ Halloween candy. And he’s at it again.

This time Kimmel asked viewers to pull the plug, turn the TV off, or switch channels at an important moment during the Super Bowl. And record the resulting mess for us all to laugh over, obviously.

I find this video especially hilarious as I do not understand the level of interest some people have in sports. Support a team, fine. Go to a game, fine. But sit around focused on the TV as if life itself depends on it? Sad.

While most of the football fans featured take it well, several resort to violence. And I find that especially saddening. A football game is so important to you that you’re happy to injure someone who interrupts it? Get a life.

This video shows a father’s response to his daughter posting a rant against her parents on her Facebook wall. The ending is rather shocking and, to my mind at least, way over the top.

This guy’s 15-year-old daughter posted on her Facebook wall about how annoyed she was with her parents over the chores they make her do. She even used a mild swearword on a couple of occasions.

The father’s measured response? Read the post out on a video, shoot her laptop with live ammunition from a handgun, and then post it all over the Internet for the whole world to see.

Rather than give my full, unedited opinion about this video on here I’ll take to my personal blog instead. Suffice to say I’m astonished by the level of support this guy is getting. I think he went way too far.

We’ve all seen those ads extolling the virtues of various bodybuilding programs or health supplements. I used to look like this, and now I look like this. Voila!!!

It turns out we may have all been duped.

This guy, who goes by the name of Furious Pete (don’t ask me why), decided to test a theory. He took the After photo first, then did some horrible stuff to his body before taking the Before photo. And what do you know.

Even without the Photoshop enhancements there is a huge and very noticeable difference. Sadly the things he did in the five hours between the two photos are what I do each and every day. That’s right folks, I’m a walking Before photograph.

This video shows the first official trailer for The Bourne Legacy, the fourth Bourne movie but the first one not to feature the titular character of Bourne or Matt Damon.

Will it suck or be absolutely awesome?

If the trailer is anything to go on The Bourne Legacy is going to rock. Matt Damon is a loss to the franchise, without doubt, but Jeremy Renner is a ready-made replacement and a fine actor in his own right.

Tony Gilroy, who wrote the first three Bourne movies, wrote and directed The Bourne Legacy, which has clearly helped. And who knows, Damon could return as Bourne in the future. Perhaps teaming up with Renner to take down Treadstone!

The Bourne Legacy is due for release on Aug. 3. I’ll definitely be there.

One of the best Super Bowl ads this year was Matthew Broderick’s Day Off, a spin on the classic Ferris Bueller’s Day Off movie from 1986. But how do the two compare?

One video editor spent rather too long putting the new ad for the Honda CR-V next to the movie and comparing them shot-for-shot, side-by-side. And the result is fascinating.

This shows the lengths Honda and the advertising firm it hired went to to ensure the ad was accurate and memorable. It doesn’t quite make me want to buy a new car, but it does make me want to watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off again.

This video shows a cat eyeing up a light fitting. Will he jump or won’t he jump? That is the question.

Assuming you have watched the video from beginning to end by now, you’ll know the answer. He jumps. A long way. Like some feline stuntman willing to risk life and limb for a YouTube hit.

What I find fascinating about this video is the decision-making process the cat goes through in his mind before leaping. He starts off being nosy, wants to jump but doesn’t and then ends up thinking, “What have I got to lose?”

I’m guessing the cat has either jumped up on the light fitting before, or at the very least eyed it up. Why else would its owners have a video camera set up to capture the moment for ever?

This is the kind of video that really needs to introduction of description. Just watch it and be awed. This is Needing/Getting by OK Go.

Now that you have watched it – I hope you have – we can dissect it. This is OK Go, a band now known primarily for their innovative music videos. And this is perhaps their greatest yet.

It may not be as deceptively simple as the infamous treadmills video, but the amount of effort (and money, no doubt) that must have gone into making this is beyond imagining.

The concept is simple: set instruments up, so that when you drive past them in your adapted vehicle they play a tune. Have the driver sing his part while doing so and there you have it. Absolutely amazing. And worth watching again and again.

This video shows Punxsutawney Phil, nothing more than an overstuffed rodent, predicting six more weeks of winter during the 2012 version of the annual Groundhog Day. Forever immortalized in the film of the same name.

It’s a shame it’s such a colossal waste of time really.

I guess it’s no worse than some of the old traditions I see in the U.K. Like, I don’t know, having a pointless monarchy, changing the guard at Buckingham Palace, and opening parliament every year. But still.

The sad thing about the whole Groundhog Day phenomenon is people actually seem to believe Punxsutawney Phil has anything to do with it. He doesn’t, he’s merely there for show.

What actually happens is a group of old men sit around looking at the weather forecast. How dull. And even then they often get it wrong.

This video shows the 2012 Super Bowl commercial for Honda starring Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller. It’s quite good, but doesn’t live up to the considerable hype heaped upon it.

Last week saw a 10-second teaser appear which had the InterWebs furiously speculating over whether Ferris Bueller’s Day Off 2 was going to be announced during the 2012 Super Bowl. It isn’t.

Instead, Honda has paid Broderick a small fortune to reprise his role from that film for a commercial for its CR-V. It’s called Matthew’s Day Off and this is it in its entirety.

I can’t help thinking Honda has erred by leaking the full commercial ahead of game day. Perhaps a longer teaser, but the whole thing? That kind of misses the point a little, doesn’t it?

Although I don’t play it as much as I used to (does anyone?) I’m still a big fan of the Guitar Hero/Rock Band games. But there is a better alternative…

… a real guitar, obviously. But not everyone agrees with that sentiment. The characters from South Park, for one.

This is probably a really old clip but I don’t care, because it’s awesome. It’s also quite timely with Rocksmith, a new game which combines the gameplay from these games with a real guitar, now available to buy.

But enough of all that. I’m off now to play with my plastic guitar. Yes, I’m too old and I should know better. But it’s just too much damn fun!

This is the official teaser trailer for season 2 of Game of Thrones. There is a little action, but more than anything this seeks to set the tone ready for the start of the first episode.

Personally Game of Thrones isn’t my cup of tea. I’m just not all that interested in the medieval fantasy genre. With the exception of the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit.

However, I’m sure there will be countless millions waiting for the start of the new season with unencumbered expectation bordering on something unhealthy.

Game of Thrones Season 2 is set to debut on HBO on April 1, 2012. Be there if you like watching actors in stupid costumes talking in olde worlde English.

This video shows The Slow Mo Guys smashing two fluorescent light bulbs together in the garden to see how doing so looks in slow-motion. It’s kinda interesting, although not the most surprising by any stretch.

I’ve featured The Slow Mo Guys regularly here on WebTVHub. I find some of their videos fascinating, although I’m starting to wonder if they have run out of good ideas for things to film in slow-motion.

These fluorescent light bulbs are a classic case. On paper they look as if they’ll produce visually-stunning results. But in actuality it’s just some smashed glass and a puff of smoke.

The humor of the video just about saves it from being too dull to share.

This video shows the official movie trailer for The Vow, a new rom-com based on true events starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. I have to say I’m not impressed.

The Vow tells the story of a couple who had a perfect marriage until a car accident puts the wife in a coma and makes her lose her memory. Her husband then has to win her love all over again.

McAdams seems to only make movies of this nature. Or at least I only notice her when she does. I guess she suits the storylines, and they suit her. As for Channing Tatum, I’m not a fan.

I won’t be watching this film, at least not in cinemas. But I’m guessing there will be many who do. Mostly women, naturally.

No one ever wants to see a roof falling in on them while they’re inside a building. Least of all the metal roof of an ice rink.

These kids are happily training in their ice hockey rink when someone notices the roof is starting to peel away at the seams. I don’t think that’s meant to happen somehow.

Everyone gets moved to the edges of the rink, and eventually out of the building altogether. But as the way these days, someone captures it on their mobile phone for posterity.

It looks as though heavy snowfall caused the collapse, as I’m guessing that’s the white stuff that comes falling through the cracks in the building as it caves in. Scary stuff.

The Grey is a new movie showing what could happen if you ever get stranded in a winter wonderland with a pack of hungry, starving wolves who are baying for blood. Need I say more?

OK, you need a little more. How about the fact, as you can clearly see in the red band trailer embedded above, that Liam Neeson is the lead actor. Liam Neeson kicks ass, almost as much as Chuck Norris.

There has been criticism over the film’s portrayal of wolves as bloodthirsty beasts. So what?!? It’s a bloody film, metaphorically and literally, so get over it.

This is a must-see movie for me. One of the finest actors fighting off hordes of wolves? Yeah, I’ll have some of that please.

This is the trailer for Touch, a new drama on Fox starring Kiefer Sutherland. It deals with the idea that everything and everyone in the world is connected.

The premise of Touch is a strong one. Everything is connected to everything else in purely scientific terms, and possibly spiritually as well. If you believe that sort of thing.

The show itself looks really good. Sure, it’s taken its cue from the likes of Lost, Heroes, Fringe, FlashForward etc. in trying to get the audience intrigued enough to continue watching, but if it pulls it off that isn’t a bad thing.

My one issue is that I still think of Sutherland as Jack Bauer from 24, and that will take some time to get past. It won’t help that he’ll reprise the role in a 24 movie being shot later this year.

This is the official movie trailer for One For The Money, a new film starring Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum. Jason O’Mara, Daniel Sunjata, Nate Mooney also star in the flick based on the book of the same name.

One For The Money is a book by Janet Evanovich that was released in 1994. It’s taken a long time but it has finally been adapted for the big-screen.

The movie tells the story of Plum, a woman who takes a job with her cousin’s bail bond business rather than remain unemployed. She then tries to bring in a guy she formerly had a relationship of sorts with.

There have been 21 more novels starring the character since One For The Money, so if this film does well it’s highly likely there will be sequels in the offing.

Personally I don’t even find real babies all that cute. So the chances of me finding an animatronic one cute were remote. Not only do I not find it cute, I find it goddamn creepy. I mean, will you just look at that thing!

This animatronic attempt at mimicking a baby’s movements is the work of Chris Clarke. And I hate him for bringing this scary vision into my eye-line, even though he is quite clearly a genius.

Whenever I see a robot exhibiting human traits I always think back to The Matrix. That’s my go-to source of all things about androids and artificial intelligence succeeding our pitiful human intelligence.

It’s bad enough seeing adult robots taking over the world, let alone little baby ones. And it all ends with each of us becoming nothing more than a battery powering them. Be on your guard!

What’s better than listening to some classic hip-hop while relaxing on the weekend? Listening to classic hip-hop as covered by the Jingle Punks Hipster Orchestra, that’s what.

Jingle Punks is a music licensing company who began the Hipster Orchestra as a way of promoting the company. But it has taken on a life of its own, with appearances on talk shows and albums full of covers.

This particular one sees the Hipster Orchestra covering classic hip-hop tunes from the likes of Eminem, Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, and 2Pac. With a little help from an 808 drum machine.

There is something truly awesome about this video. It helps that the band are all young and good looking; the violinist on the left is hot.

Watching the sun rise or the sun set is a truly awe-inspiring experience. It’s visually stunning, and it also helps to ground you, and make you realize you’re just another animal on a planet that is rotating in space.

But what if you were able to artificially cause the sun to rise?

That is exactly what Tropicana did in London recently as part of a new viral advertising campaign. Tropicana is an American brand of fruit juice, and the sun was clearly meant to represent the color of its orange juice product.

This looks awesome, as in it really could be mistaken for the sun, at least after a cursory glance. And then you’d get closer and realize it’s just something hanging in Trafalgar Square.
