You know that horrible live-audience wooing noise in American sitcoms? The one that follows any kiss or tender moment? How about using it inappropriately, and in Saved By The Bell?

It works. We end up with a clip which is funnier than it should be.

The main thing I take away from this video is how bad the acting was in Saved By The Bell. Mark-Paul Gosselaar is shockingly bad, especially in the scene where he’s reacting to the bad news.

That’s even beyond the fact that the clothes and hair were horrible, the writing was dire, and every single aspect of the show was diabolically bad. At least looking back now. At the time it originally aired I loved it.

This video shows the making of Life’s Too Short, the new sitcom (a lot of sit, not much com) from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. I’m afraid the comedy duo have failed on this occasion.

We’re now halfway through the first season (I suspect there won’t be a second) of Life’s Too Short. And I’m not impressed. The show is very uneven, with flashes of brilliance in amongst a lot of trash.

The basic premise isn’t all that good, even though Warwick Davis is a legend and the best thing on the show. But the big problem with Life’s Too Short are Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant playing themselves.

They are just themselves rather than caricatures. And they have their celebrity friends drop by, which helps the show but doesn’t half smack of name dropping.

The Office was genius, Extras hit and miss. Life’s Too Short is just a bit crap. And a failure may be just what Gervais needs to bring him back down to earth.

Is this the beginning of the end for How I Met Your Mother?

It looks like things could possibly be wrapping up for How I Met Your Mother and the story.

With Lily and Marshall going to have their baby and Barney getting ready to get married at the end of the previous season, it looks like things really could be wrapping up for the gang.

There have been reports that the cast is ready to move onto new projects.

Plus, I have to admit, as much as I like this show… It’s kind of wearing itself thin on the original premise of finding out who the mother is.

I will sorely miss the characters, and I hope the writers close this show with style.

Christina Applegate, Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph star in the new comedy ‘Up All Night’, all about what parenthood is really like.

I think they had me at the babysitter deciding the house is a death trap not just for baby but for the parents as well. Haha.

I have to admit that I am really impressed. If this show actually lives up to this preview (and they haven’t just thrown every single good part into the preview), I think this will be a good show.

I am amused at thinking about how the American public will take all the swearing, but that’s another topic.

Roy, Moss, Jen and even Richmond are cracking it up again – and this time they don’t even mean it.

I love the IT Crowd. Partly because I am married to an IT guy and partly just because it’s damn funny.

I remember watching the first episodes of this and thinking it was a winner when Roy answered the phone, “Have you tried turning it off and on again?”

The funniest things are often the truth.

Another beauty if this show is paying attention to the set. It’s said that a lot of things like xkcd references and EFF stickers reflect creator Graham Linehan’s own tastes.

God, I hate laugh tracks on sitcoms. I can’t believe they’re still used, when shows like The Office and Curb Your Enthusiasm have brought the genre up-to-date without them.

How about we replace the laugh track and see how funny a show such as Two And A Half Men is then…

It’s not funny, it’s as simple as that. You know the writing isn’t good enough when the audience needs to be told when to be amused.

It clearly isn’t just me who doesn’t find Two And A Half Men even remotely funny, and can’t understand how so many people think it’s a worthy show to whittle their life away watching.

I also can’t understand why Charlie Sheen is paid millions of dollars for each episode, especially when you can visibly see he doesn’t care and is only doing it for the money.

Former MLB pitcher Kenny Powers is back in the second HBO series starring Danny McBride and Will Farell.

Season one ended with Kenny leaving his high school sweetheart’s belongings (with her inside the shop) on the side of the road and driving off without her.

Season two picks up with Kenny – now known as Steve – living in Mexico, playing for a Mexican professional baseball team, running a cockfighting ring and saying things like, “You pay Steve when his cock wins.”

As you can imagine, all the immature humor has been a big hit with younger audiences, prompting HBO to keep it for another season.

To celebrate Season 4 beginning on TBS this past weekend, this video contains some of the bloopers from Season 1 of My Boys. Many of which are laugh out loud funny.

My Boys, created by Betsy Thomas, began in November 2006 and is still running. The fourth season began on Sun (Jul 25) but there is intense speculation that this will be the final season, with the show being canned.

In the meantime, the future of the show is still up in the air. Which means the actors, including Jordana Spiro, Jim Gaffigan, and Reid Scott, are having to turn down other work to be available to fulfill their contracts.

What is it with American television these days? Shows have to keep getting record viewing figures to stay on air. If the numbers dip even a little, the show gets canned. Let’s hope My Boys doesn’t follow that trend.

Remember that 90’s sitcom Family Matters? You know, the funny show with the geek who couldn’t get a girl to save his life and was a constant klutz? If not, you’re still in for a real treat.

Urkel was always funny to me as a kid, but I always shy away from the show when I see re-runs on TV. Most of my childhood TV favorites are no longer funny to me and I automatically assumed Family Matters would be the same. Boy, was I wrong!

I never realized how talented he really is. The Bruce Lee bit at the end (#2) is just jaw-dropping! People just don’t hurt themselves in sitcoms anymore like they used to.

The confident womanizer has become a common favorite character in many TV shows, especially in the comedy circuit. Despite treating women like sex objects and generally being degrading, these characters have become the antiheroes of comedy pulling laughs out of unprotected sex, broken hearts, clinically depressed women, threesomes and broken homes. 1) Fonzie (Happy Days)

Hands down, the number one TV womanizer of all time has to be none other than The Fonz from Happy Days. The proof of all of Fonzie’s powers can be seen in this clip where he single-handedly saves the day and gets the babe in just a couple minutes.

Apparently the key to getting all the girls is being a gang-related, leather jacket-wearing, high school drop-out. Surprisingly, actor Henry Winkler was nothing like the stud he played on camera. According to him, “The Fonz was everybody I wasn’t. He was everybody I wanted to be.”

2) Charlie Harper (Two and a Half Men)

Of all the womanizers on our list, none are as undeservingly irresistible as Charlie Harper. All types of women, even those that he’s offended in the past, are eventually captivated by his charm- almost as if by magic.

Harper may be a magnet for short relationships and booty calls in Two and a Half Men, but actor Charlie Sheen’s womanizing doesn’t end when the camera’s stop rolling. When asked about the most number of women he had had sex with, Sheen replied, “…five girls at once…all six people in that room came out of it pretty satisfied.”

Another reason Al Bundy is placed high on our list is for founding his misogynistic club “National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood” (or NO MA’AM for short). As seen in this clip, somehow bashing the opposite sex doesn’t interfere with supermodel-type women obeying his every command. Bundy, you dog.

4) Sonny Corinthos (General Hospital)

As bi-polar Mob boss Sonny Corinthos is, he sure knows how to get chicks. Since his character was written in in 1993, he’s had 3 wives and 11 ex-lovers- 4 of which have died due to his dangerous lifestyle. You’d have to be crazy to put up with Sonny.

Fortunately for him, most women he runs into turn out to be. Take, for example, this scene with his ex-fiancee’s cousin Olivia Falconeri; their heated argument turns into a make-out session. Actor Maurice Benard, who really is bi-polar in real life, stated the following an interview with Oprah:

“When I let it be known I was bipolar, [the writers] wrote it into the character.”

5) Dr. Christian Troy (Nip/Tuck)

Former patients, sex addicts, therapists, strippers, babysitters, and even mother and a daughter duos have all had past sexual relations with Dr. Christian Troy. Ordinarily, any guy who is caught cheating on his girlfriend in his bedroom suffers severe punishment. Christian, on the other hand, turns the predicament into a threesome in the above clip from Nip/Tuck.

In an interview with USA Today Julian McMahon commented on his character boasting, “Without a doubt I’ve had the most sex scenes in any television show, ever.” He’s even had a sex scene with Rosie O’ Donnell; a clip you’ll just have to look up on your own time.

6) Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother)

Creator and screenwriter Craig Thomas describes Barney as “a pretty fragile character who’s really afraid of being alone.” Though, you wouldn’t know it from most of his sexist scenes on How I Met Your Mother. Neil Patrick Harris couldn’t be more of a jerk to the women that come to his apartment.

Neil, who is actually gay in real life, has had over 200 one-night stands in the course of the show, yet remains as one of the most likable characters. His code of manhood dubbed “The Bro Code” includes rules like the following:

“XVII. When out with the guys, never accept a call from your girlfriend—unless she’s dying or trapped under a burning fuel truck, and if that’s the case, make it quick.”

7) Archie Bunker (All In The Family)

All In The Family aired just years after the Women’s Liberation movement took place in the late 1960’s and reflected the times by having TV’s “most lovable bigot” Archie Bunker as one of the main characters. In this classic scene Archie is shocked by the idea of equal pay.

You wouldn’t know it from watching a single episode, but Carroll O’Connor (who played Archie) was in fact a liberal and an English teacher. Concerning the character he played, he commented in an interview:

“I never heard Archie’s kind of talk in my own family. My father was a lawyer… in partnership with two Jews… There were black families in our circle of friends. My father disliked talk like Archie’s – he called it lowbrow.”

8) The Entire Cast Of Mad Men

Just one character out of this show wouldn’t be enough of an example to show how obviously sexist Mad Men is. Stories and history lessons about inequality in the workplace can’t compare to seeing it on screen. Nearly every male character, no matter how big or small, is a womanizer in each episode.

The Gynecologist

The ’60s was certainly a strange time to be in the medical field. Birth control pills were taboo for unmarried women and it wasn’t uncommon for a doctor to smoke. When Peggy visits the gynecologist for her first (and last) time during the show, the help that she gets might as well be sexual harassment.

All throughout the first season, Pete certainly has a shitty way of showing Peggy how he likes her. Here’s the classic moment when they first met- who knew they’d be hooking up later that night?

9) Joey (Friends)

Joey is perhaps the most likable skirt chaser on TV due to his dimwitted charm and humor. Sure he’s a womanizer, but he’s too dumb to know it. In this compilation of his famous catchphrase “How You Doin’?” it’s easy to see that Joey’s libido has no off button.

In real life Friends actor Mat LeBlanc certainly has a way with women as well. According to a NBC interview about he revealed that he once seduced two stewardesses and convinced them to take him in as a roommate when he first moved to New York City.

10) Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl)

Chuck Bass is the ultimate parent-less wild child. After both of his parents died leaving him in charge of a billion-dollar company he devotes most of his time to being a jerk, throwing lavish parties, and hitting on girls- all usually at the same time.

If the secret to getting babes is throwing insults at girls, then then Chuck Bass is probably the most attractive guy in Gossip Girl. Sure, he can be a giant jerk most times, but he eventually grows a heart large enough to profess his love for his girlfriend Blair. For this reason Chuck is at the bottom of our list.

No doubt, one of the biggest shows to come back this fall is The Office. And what better way to celebrate season 6 than to watch short a re-cap of all the previous seasons?

Here are the 100 greatest moments from every episode so far (an extra taken from the Season 5 DVDs). The majority are funny, some are heart-warming, and the rest are just plain awesome.

Even though I don’t watch the show religiously, I still love occasionally flipping to The Office once in a while because of it’s easy-to-follow format. The mockumentary series is structured so that you can miss entire seasons and still get the humor in each episode.

And for anyone who’s ever worked in a cubicle, the show is even funnier.

The Cosby Show may have been a family-oriented show, but some of these outtakes are pretty controversial. No, they’re not as shocking as the profanity-laced Thundercats bloopers, yet the jokes that are brought up have some racial and sexist undertones.

You know, like the jokes real American families say to each other.

It’s a little known fact that the majority of the audience for The Cosby Show at it’s peak of popularity was the white middle-class. So while it may seem surprising to find jokes like the one at the 4:34 mark made, I’m sure there were tons more that will never see the light of day.

This footage came as a extra on the Cosby Show Season 2 DVDs released back in 2005. It took 20 years, but now we finally get a glimpse into the “real” Cosby family.

Ever since the classic comedy Red Dwarf aired it’s last show in 1998 on a cliffhanger ending there has been talk of more shows to come. However, a decade later the Red Dwarf audience have been denied of any new shows, but this is about to change.

There was talk of a new Red Dwarf movie and a script was written but Doug Naylor, a Red Dwarf writer, was unable to secure funding for the movie.

Back in August 2008 we heard news of a brand new 1 hour special in the works complete with the original Red Dwarf cast. You can see Robert Llewellyn discussing the new special in the radio interview below:

Four New Red Dwarf Specials Announced

However, since that interview the plans for Red Dwarf have changed again. It has been announced that there will be four, half hour Red Dwarf specials for the UK TV channel, Dave.

It will of course contain the original cast and is planned to air sometime in 2009. The current episode list (subject to change) is as follows:

Red Dwarf is a British comedy series that features Dave Lister, the last surviving member of the human race, aboard the mining ship Red Dwarf.

A radiation spill happens on board the Red Dwarf while Lister is in suspended animation. The ship’s computer, Holly, decides to keep him there until the radiation dies down. The thing is that the wait is three million years.

This video is only a taste of the dry British humor that makes this show excellent and a classic.

Now if only it were true… (Kidding.)

World of Warcraft and other similar Internet based MMOs are a phenomenon which seem to constantly hover just away from the mainstream.

Despite having 10 million subscribers worldwide, and picking up new ones every day, WoW remains the domain of the geek, or at least that’s what traditional media would have us believe.

One Million Nerds

So when a new Web based comedy drama about a mismatched group of online role-playing gamers found its way on to YouTube last October, 1 million nerds watched it.

The show is the brainchild of Felicia Day, a geeky yet attractive professional actress who regularly appeared on Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Although the first episode of the show was originally intended as a pilot, its success on YouTube meant that Day and her collaborators couldn’t let the fans down.

6 months later, and there are 8 episodes available to watch. The show was also nominated for both YouTube and Yahoo Video awards.

The show is still being financed through the generosity of fans who donate between $5 and $100 through the official site.

The Guild – Episode 1: Wake-Up Call

So far, there have been four episodes completed, and uploaded to the various places the duo have chosen to make their show available from.

This includes a website dedicated solely to the show, a YouTube channel, and a channel on Stage6. All of the episodes are the same on all the sites, but the website seems to be updated most often with new episodes.

The show is about the lovable pair’s attempts at getting their act entitled Nirvana The Band booked. Obviously being a sitcom this doesn’t go altogether smoothly, which is where the comedy comes in to play.

The style is very much that of a mock documentary, which reminded me of The Office, although without the plays to the camera.

The First Episode – The Beginning

In case you hadn’t already realised, the show has nothing to do with the band Nirvana, indeed some of the comedy is derived from the fact that the duo don’t seem to realise the name has been used before.

It’s a brilliantly conceived and quite professionally made little sitcom, which deserves a viewing. With the promise of at least five episodes, and hopefully more, you should give it a go.

I never thought Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant would be able to equal the brilliance, and success of the original series of The Office, but somehow they pulled it off.

Extras works because it shows a side of television, and celebrities that we don’t normally get to see. Okay, it’s all made up, but still, it works on a voyeuristic level.

This is one of the best scenes from the show, with Patrick Stewart talking about his new upcoming film, which sees him as a man who controls the world with his mind.

For Stewart however, best known as Captain Picard in Star Trek, and Professor Xavier in the X-Men films, this translates as an opportunity to see women naked.

The basic premise is that these stars, such as Michael Caine, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Joe Pesci and Al Pacino, have all moved to London, and live on the same street.

The show has so far been a BBC2 regular, and four series have been aired on the channel, but now it’s coming exclusively to the online sector, by way of Log.tv.

Director Peter Richardson looks to have been fed up with the constraints of traditional television, and so decided to relaunch the cult show on the Internet instead.

“With Log.tv we don’t have to worry about the constraints of the terrestrial broadcaster.”

“The whole packaging process with TV can take years. Now, we can make quick decisions for ourselves and make it.”

“We can use young undiscovered attractive talent which brings an energy to the project I could never get from TV productions.”

Log.tv itself only launched two months ago as a talent broadcasting network and distribution platform, which encourages users to upload content, as well as collaborating with programme makers such as this.

This is brilliant news, as the show is a must see, especially for those in to alternative comedies. Log.tv is currently free to watch and in beta testing.

This is a very short clip from The IT Crowd, a technology related sitcom shown on Channel 4 in the UK which is currently being remade in the US.

The whole show is brilliant, but this particular clip is inspired. The ’sensible’ character in the IT department is Jen Barber, although she’s less techie, and more administrative than the other two main characters.

She is sat in a boardroom meeting trying to explain what the IT department have been doing recently and comes out with the gem that “If you type Google in to Google, you CAN break the Internet.”

Now, none of you go and try it, just in case it’s true… I said DON’T!

You could try asking Ask what question to ask though, that’s always fun, even though they killed Jeeves off.

I have to admit, though, that my favorite thing that NBC.com has done is the Karma Cam. Ordinary people admit to the camera all of the bad stuff that they’ve done in the past. My favorite is the guy apologizing to his buddy for pissing on him while he was drunk. That’s just classic.
