You’re no doubt aware of the Nintendo Wii, which has managed to outsell the PS3 and Xbox 360, its more traditional, much higher-powered rivals this generation thanks to the Wii Remote motion control system.

But did you know Microsoft and Sony are now fighting back, with Natal on the Xbox 360 and Move on the PS3 respectively?

This video shows the first commercial for the Playstation Move, which is a similar system to that of the Wii, but with more accuracy and more of a 3D aspect.

It’s a very funny ad, mainly because Sony goes on the offensive, ripping the piss out of Natal and the Wii Remote.

The problem is that the Move controller is also open to mocking, seeing as it looks like a cross between a torchlight and an adult toy. Something I’m sure Microsoft will bear in mind for their ads.

God Of War III is now out on the PS3, and it’s pretty damn awesome. OK, so it’s linear, and very similar to the two previous games, but it’s still a game that needs to be experienced.

While a review is fine, it’s a walkthrough, guide, and cheats which most fans are seeking online. Well, at least the ones who are having trouble with the game.

God Of War III is a direct sequel to the last game, and the third title in a trilogy that has now come to an end. Which means there is a certain amount of closure at the end for people who have played all three games.

While the gameplay in God Of War III remains the same, it’s the visuals that have been ramped up. The sheer scale of everything on screen is pure eye candy, and this is one game that’s as good to watch as a bystander as it is to play.

Just Cause 2 is the sequel (hence the 2) to the well-received original which was released in 2006 on PC, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. The Just Cause 2 demo hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 today (March 4).

Although the demo has hit today, the full game isn’t released until March 23.

Rico Rodriguez once again returns as the protagonist of the game, this time seeking to overthrow Baby Panay, an evil dictator.

The game works as an open sandbox, so you move your character around the game world until you find something interesting to do. Which with Just Cause 2 usually involves killing people with some kick-ass weapons.

Just Cause 2 won’t be for everyone but that’s what both the trailer and the demo are for, right?

While I don’t think this technology is quite as revolutionary as it first seems – isn’t it just melding gaming and paintball? – it is still pretty darn cool.

I am just wondering what sort of real life places they think this is going to be realistic for.

The average person isn’t going to have the space or the money for one of these things, so will it be worth it if limited to larger arcades and billionaire gamers’ houses?

Comedian and ‘Mock of the Week’ host Dara O’Briain likes to play video games, but these days the casual gamer is a lot less welcome in the more popular titles…

While it is a bit of comedy, he makes some good points about gaming these days. It’s not often you will find a game with all its content out there anymore.

Sure, that rewards the hardcore gamers, but what about people who want to relax with a game on the weekend or want, like Dara, to play the content they paid for?

I’ve been known to dabble in online gaming from time to time. I’m not exactly brilliant but I enjoy it nonetheless. However, I’m a straight shooter, in both senses, getting on with the job without bragging or being a dick.

Unlike this guy. Who, upon finding a rival player lying in a building preparing to snipe people in Modern Warfare 2, decides to send a message to him before killing him. Big mistake, bozo.

Instead of sending him a message and then shooting him in the head, he gets shot himself as the other guy has got up, turned around, and noticed him standing there in the mean time.

Instead of pwning the guy, he ends up experiencing an epic fail. Which is justice in my book.

Me, I’d have shot the guy in the balls as soon as I spotted him. I may not have had bragging rights afterwards but at least I’d have killed him before he killed me. Which is the aim of the game after all.

Everyone remembers Sonic The Hedgehog, don’t they? The first two games virtually sold the Genesis console on their own merit, as everyone wanted to play the speedier, cooler version of Mario.

And maybe they’ll want to again this year, as Sega is going back to basics with Sonic The Hedgehog 4. Forget fancy 3D, Sonic 4 is going to be a purely 2D affair. And it looks all the better for it.

It all went a little pear-shaped after Sonic The Hedgehog 2. While Mario has continued to delight both fans and critics, the Sonic games have got increasingly worse, with only a few gems mixed in.

But Sonic The Hedgehog 4, previously teased as ‘Project Needlemouse’, could reinvigorate the series and prove that 3D isn’t always the best option. It’s due to be released on PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii later this year. And I cannot wait.

What the hell has happened to the news? There was a time when it was full of well-researched journalism, but it’s now full of sensationalist scaremongering of the highest order.

I’m sure there are some weirdos playing video games online to contact members of the opposite sex. But it’s a tiny minority. And it’s a tiny minority of those who are pedophiles looking to pick up underage partners.

Yet this report would have you believing everyone is a potential rapist. It also forgets to mention that you’re perfectly safe unless you decide to give the strange man or woman you’re talking to your full home address. Which most people, however young and naive, aren’t stupid enough to do.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the top-rated games to have been released this year. It’s only been out on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 since the summer yet a sequel has already been announced.

This is the first look video trailer for Batman: Arkham Asylum 2. It doesn’t show much – being just a teaser and all – but The Joker is back and causing mayhem once again.

Superhero games have been notoriously bad over the years, with developers seemingly unable to grasp the gameplay mechanic required to make Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and the rest come to life in games.

Batman: Arkham Asylum managed to pull it off and it’s obviously hoped the sequel will be as good if not better than the original. The game was announced at the 2009 Spike TV VGAs, and a new Web site named ArkhamHasMoved is now live.

The Halo series of video games is one of the biggest, most popular, and best around. The first two games virtually sold the original Xbox, and Halo 3 and its spin-offs have done exceedingly well on the Xbox 360.

And now comes a new game in the series. Halo: Reach was announced in the summer but has only now come made its debut. This is the first trailer, which was premiered during the 2009 Spike TV Video Game Awards.

Halo: Reach is a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, being set during Halo: The Fall of Reach and the beginning of Halo: First Strike. These are two of the official novels which expand the story from the games.

The trailer doesn’t show much, and isn’t comprised of gameplay footage. However, what it does show is enough to get me excited at the prospect of playing the game when it’s released on the Xbox 360 late in 2010.

And as Halo: Reach is the last Halo game being developed by Bungie, let’s hope this chapter in the series goes out on a high.

World of Warcraft fans, your weeks of waiting are finally over! Patch 3.3 The Fall of the Lich King has finally gone live today, meaning new raids, new improvements and even more fun.

Okay, I will admit it: I know pretty much next to nothing about World of Warcraft. I have never even played any online multiplayer games.

But why don’t we just look past that for now, okay?

Going on this trailer alone? World of Warcraft looks quite awesome. I’m a sucker for a fantasy storyline, which is quite evident in this trailer, and bashing baddies with my friends does sound like good fun.

I believe in the principle of karma as much as the next person, though I’d probably never take it this far. Keep in mind this news story was from 3 years ago when the PS3 was just coming out. Even so, it should be noted that the guy did in fact sell the system for $1!

“It’s good to give,” On says in the interview. Oh, how right you are. I just wish more people would return the favor.

I’m a gamer, as are most of the population these days. Gaming has changed from being a niche hobby partaken by geeks and weirdos to one that everyone and their grandma can share.

But while I believe it to be a perfectly healthy hobby, like everything it can become an addiction, with gamers becoming obsessed with certain titles or genres and playing until all hours.

The problem comes when this starts affecting other parts of these people’s lives. They choose gaming over all else, totally focused on playing, letting his work, relationship, and friendships slip in the process.

This girl, who just happens to be hot, reaches her limit in quite spectacular fashion. Sick of her boyfriend choosing his PS3 over her, she walks into the front room, rips it out of the TV stand and smashes it into pieces.

Games consoles aren’t cheap, so this maybe wasn’t the best course of action. Still, I’m struggling to have sympathy for the guy as he sealed his own fate by choosing games over his beautiful and desirable girlfriend. What an absolute idiot.

If you’ve never heard of Custer’s Revenge then you’re in for a real treat. Not because this retro video game is a gem in a pile of crappy title but because it is so bad, remembered purely for its controversial subject matter.

This video shows a guy playing the Atari 2600 game and commenting on it as he goes. It’s funny and shocking at the same time.

In essence, the aim of the game is to allow General Custer to get his revenge on Native Americans. How could he possibly do this? By raping a Native American woman tied to a cactus, of course.

So you get to steer Custer across the screen with his cock hanging out. If you can avoid the spears and cacti and make it to the other side, you get to hump the shit out of the girl. Which is pleasant.

This is rightly classed as one of the worst games of all time. If the subject matter doesn’t warrant the title then the crappy and repetitive gameplay surely does.

It’s Black Friday today, in case you hadn’t noticed. Which means there are bargains to be had in certain sectors. One of which is video games, with the industry desperate to finish a year affected by the recession on a high.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is officially out today, although some stores broke the street date and sold copies prematurely.

The game is now out for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It’s a first-person shooter directly following on from the first Modern Warfare game, which in turn was the first Call of Duty game to leave World War II and move into the present day.

There is some controversy surrounding the game because of its RRP, dodgy promotional material, and stunted multiplayer options. But Modern Warfare 2 is still due to sell millions of copies. Because, at the end of the day, it’s a brilliant game.

Wow. If you thought Disney just made kiddy films, think again. Their latest 2010 film Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time looks to a be a blockbuster comparable to Pirates of The Caribbean.

Even if you’re not a fan of Disney or multi-million dollar Hollywood blockbusters, you have to admit this looks amazing.

The producer of the POTC series worked on this video game adaptation and it looks breathtaking to say the least. Hopefully this film will have the same adventurous feel that the first Pirates movie had. Who knows, Jake Gyllenhaal could be the next Johnny Depp.

I remember playing Prince Of Persia as a kid and I have to say Disney definitely went all out on it’s $200 million budget on making it as close to the game as possible. Aside from the whole white-people-being-Persian thing of course.

But that’s Hollywood for ya.

Watch a high definition glimpse into an upcoming movie from Disney based on the video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

In typical Hollywood fashion, some names are changed (why do they do that?) and many of the ‘Persians’ are sporting post British accents.

Go figure.

While the tag that this is being brought to you by some of the same people who made Pirates of the Caribbean won’t be impressive to a lot of people, it at least means you know what to expect from this movie…
