This video shows the first official trailer for The Bourne Legacy, the fourth Bourne movie but the first one not to feature the titular character of Bourne or Matt Damon.

Will it suck or be absolutely awesome?

If the trailer is anything to go on The Bourne Legacy is going to rock. Matt Damon is a loss to the franchise, without doubt, but Jeremy Renner is a ready-made replacement and a fine actor in his own right.

Tony Gilroy, who wrote the first three Bourne movies, wrote and directed The Bourne Legacy, which has clearly helped. And who knows, Damon could return as Bourne in the future. Perhaps teaming up with Renner to take down Treadstone!

The Bourne Legacy is due for release on Aug. 3. I’ll definitely be there.

This is the official teaser trailer for season 2 of Game of Thrones. There is a little action, but more than anything this seeks to set the tone ready for the start of the first episode.

Personally Game of Thrones isn’t my cup of tea. I’m just not all that interested in the medieval fantasy genre. With the exception of the Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit.

However, I’m sure there will be countless millions waiting for the start of the new season with unencumbered expectation bordering on something unhealthy.

Game of Thrones Season 2 is set to debut on HBO on April 1, 2012. Be there if you like watching actors in stupid costumes talking in olde worlde English.

This video shows the official movie trailer for The Vow, a new rom-com based on true events starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. I have to say I’m not impressed.

The Vow tells the story of a couple who had a perfect marriage until a car accident puts the wife in a coma and makes her lose her memory. Her husband then has to win her love all over again.

McAdams seems to only make movies of this nature. Or at least I only notice her when she does. I guess she suits the storylines, and they suit her. As for Channing Tatum, I’m not a fan.

I won’t be watching this film, at least not in cinemas. But I’m guessing there will be many who do. Mostly women, naturally.

The Grey is a new movie showing what could happen if you ever get stranded in a winter wonderland with a pack of hungry, starving wolves who are baying for blood. Need I say more?

OK, you need a little more. How about the fact, as you can clearly see in the red band trailer embedded above, that Liam Neeson is the lead actor. Liam Neeson kicks ass, almost as much as Chuck Norris.

There has been criticism over the film’s portrayal of wolves as bloodthirsty beasts. So what?!? It’s a bloody film, metaphorically and literally, so get over it.

This is a must-see movie for me. One of the finest actors fighting off hordes of wolves? Yeah, I’ll have some of that please.

This is the trailer for Touch, a new drama on Fox starring Kiefer Sutherland. It deals with the idea that everything and everyone in the world is connected.

The premise of Touch is a strong one. Everything is connected to everything else in purely scientific terms, and possibly spiritually as well. If you believe that sort of thing.

The show itself looks really good. Sure, it’s taken its cue from the likes of Lost, Heroes, Fringe, FlashForward etc. in trying to get the audience intrigued enough to continue watching, but if it pulls it off that isn’t a bad thing.

My one issue is that I still think of Sutherland as Jack Bauer from 24, and that will take some time to get past. It won’t help that he’ll reprise the role in a 24 movie being shot later this year.

Red Tails is a new movie from George Lucas telling the story of the Tuskegee Airmen. You can watch the trailer for it here. Or you can watch the film HBO made of the same story in 1995.

It was simply named The Tuskegee Airmen, and this is the trailer for that version of history.

I’m not saying don’t go out to the movie theater and watch Red Tails. I’d like to see the film do well at the box office. However, there is another option as the George Lucas effort isn’t the first telling of the tale.

There are some differences between the two. Lucas has used special effects aplenty (as he always does) while HBO used archive footage of the planes and airmen fighting the war. I’d also say the acting is better in The Tuskegee Airmen, but that’s just me.

This video shows the What The Flick? panel dissecting The Descendants, a movie directed by Alexander Payne and starring George Clooney. The latter won a Golden Globe for his performance.

The Descendants is the sort of movie I would have rejected outright just a few years ago. Where is the action? Where are the explosions? Where is the overlong car chase, the death-defying stunts, and the special effects?

As I’ve got older and my tastes have matured I find myself appreciating the storyline, the cinematography, and the acting performances much more than those aforementioned novelties.

The Descendants will be out on DVD and Blu-ray soon, and I personally feel that will be the best way of watching it. Only those films with all the above need to be watched at the cinema.

Skyfall, the 23rd Bond film ever made, will be released later this year. But you can also watch the previous 22 Bond films in glorious HD thanks to this new Blu-ray boxset.

I’ve seen pretty much all of the Bond films over the years, but I must admit I find all of those pre-Pierce Brosnan very dated now. Give me anything from Goldeneye onwards and I’m happy, otherwise I cannot be bothered.

All Bond films are reliant on special effects and cutting-edge technology, but that means they don’t age well. Unlike the actors who play Bond, who seem to age very well, bizarrely.

Which means I’m unlikely to buy Bond 50, the new Blu-ray boxset containing all the films to date. As the name suggests ‘Bond 50′ is being released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the franchise.

This is the official trailer for Moonrise Kingdom, a new movie by Wes Anderson. The film tells the tale of a pair of young lovers who go AWOL and get tracked down by a search party. OK, so it looks better than I’m describing it.

As with all Anderson’s films the cinematography looks stunning, with an amazing color palette and some ingenious camera-work. But a film cannot rely on visuals alone.

I actually hated The Royal Tenenbaums when it was released, but I think my appreciation for good cinema has improved since then. I loved The Darjeeling Limited, and suspect I’ll love Moonrise Kingdom as well.

It marries an amazing cast to an offbeat storyline, great visuals to quirky humor. And that’s just the trailer. Moonrise Kingdom is due for a limited release in the U.S. and beyond in May 2012.

This is a special trailer for The Devil Inside, which opened strongly in the U.S. this weekend. It shows some of the audience reactions as they watched the film for the first time.

The critics hate The Devil Inside, with one even describing it as the worst movie of the year (even though we’re only a week in to it). But moviegoers are paying their money to see this film regardless.

It’s obvious why. The Devil Inside is the latest movie to adopt the ‘Scare the audience shitless’ tactic, following on from the likes of Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity. The critics hated those movies too.

The fact is people like being scared, as long as they know it’s all fictional and they’re not actually going to come to any real harm. The Devil Inside plays on that love of frights.

A Netflix Original you say? But won’t that be cheap, tacky, and have a woefully low budget? No, as it turns out.

This is the official trailer for Lilyhammer, a new show coming exclusively to Netflix, which financed the series. Netflix is the DVDs-by-mail company that now also streams content.

Lilyhammer is the first show Netflix has produced, with House of Cards and Arrested Development expected to follow. Shockingly, it looks pretty damn good.

Steven van Zandt plays a character who chooses Norway as his new residence. But he doesn’t quite manage to turn over a new leaf in the town that hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics.

Lilyhammer will be available to watch on Netflix from Feb. 6, 2012.

This is a remixed version of the trailer for Drew Peterson: Untouchable, a new Lifetime TV movie starring Rob Lowe.

I can’t actually watch the original trailer for Drew Peterson: Untouchable, as it isn’t available in the U.K. But I’m guessing this is a lot better anyway. By all accounts the proper trailer is laughable.

There are some obvious legal questions over the official trailer. How right is it to make a film showing someone committing the crimes they have yet to be tried for?

There’s also a question over what this means for Rob Lowe’s career? Why, Lowe, why?!? He’ll be Untouchable after this.

Fans of How To Make In In America are mourning today, as HBO has announced it will not be renewing the show for a third season. That means there are just 16 episodes total for fans to hold on to.

HBO used to be one of the good guys, who would let a show grow slowly. But no longer. Instead, it has become just like the networks, canceling shows left, right, and center.

How To Make It In America centered on two twenty-something entrepreneurs fighting to get ahead in New York.

Alongside How To Make It In America, HBO has also canceled Hung and Bored To Death. The former received mixed reviews, granted, but it seemed to have a chance of growing an audience given time.

This is the video trailer for Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, a new movie starring Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. The kid is Thomas Horn, who is getting rave reviews for his portrayal of the main character in this emotional drama.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is the movie of the book by Jonathan Safran Foer. It had its premiere in L.A. last night (Dec. 16) but isn’t on general release until Jan. 20.

The book (and the movie, obviously) tells the tale of a teenager who goes on a hunt around New York after finding a key that belonged to his father. His father who died in the World Trade center on 9/11.

The book is an emotional rollercoaster, and the film looks to have captured the essence of it well. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is one movie for those who like their dramas to feel real and who like a good weep, whether in a theater or in their front room.

The Boardwalk Empire season 2 finale has now aired on HBO. This video rewinds back to the start of the season, with creator/executive producer Terence Winter discussing what fans should expect from the series.

Did he stick to his original plans?

I’ll be honest and admit I haven’t seen season 2 of Boardwalk Empire as yet. So I watch this video from the point of view of not knowing what is coming. Most of you will know how it ends.

I have, however, read spoilers about the Boardwalk Empire season finale and know the twist which occurs. A twist which many fans are said to be up in arms over. Let’s remind those people that is it just a TV show.

Coriolanus isn’t one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays, but that may be a help rather than a hindrance with accepting Ralph Fiennes’ movie adaptation of it.

How do you deliver a Shakespeare play to a modern audience without completely turning off all those who don’t like period dramas? By retaining the essence of said play while transferring it to the present day, that’s how.

This represents Fiennes’ directorial debut, and it’s receiving lots of attention, mostly positive. Adapting a Shakespeare play isn’t exactly the easiest project for a new director, but Fiennes appears to have pulled it off in spectacular fashion.

Coriolanus isn’t going to be for everyone. This is a literary film for Shakespeare purists and for those who don’t need Michael Bay-style explosions in order to leave the cinema satisfied.

The Cabin In The Woods is a new movie from Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly. It stars Chris Hemsworth from Thor and looks brilliant.

I love films like The Cabin In The Woods. Classic movies such as Cube, Cloverfield, Saw, The Truman Show; they all have an element of mystery which we somewhat share with the characters.

For this reason some are complaining The Cabin In The Woods isn’t very original, but I’d argue against that. Just because it uses similar plot devices to other movies doesn’t mean it’s stealing or copying their ideas.

The Cabin In The Woods movie trailer has me sold. I already know I’ll be heading out to see the flick when it’s released in theaters on April 13.

It’s a Wonderful Life is considered by many to be the best Christmas movie of all time. It’s certainly a classic. And now it’s available to buy on Blu-ray.

I have to admit It’s a Wonderful Life looks great on Blu-ray. This is how Frank Capra would have wanted people to watch the film. You can even watch the full color version if the black and white feels too old-skool.

I won’t be buying It’s a Wonderful Life on Blu-ray, purely because I don’t actually rate it as a film. After years of hearing about how great it was I finally bought it on DVD and watched it, and was thoroughly unimpressed.

My favorite Christmas movies are Christmas Vacation, The Polar Express and A Muppet Christmas Carol. Who needs Jimmy Stewart when you have Chevy Chase, Tom Hanks, and Gonzo?!

This is the official movie trailer for The Descendants, a new film from director Alexander Payne. It stars George Clooney as a rich husband and father who is forced to look at life after his wife lands in hospital.

The Descendants is by the director of Sideways and About Schmidt, both fantastic films that kept me compelled from start to finish.

The Descendants is the kind of movie that needs a great actor leading it. There are no big action sequences to tempt the eye, and the storyline looks rambling and a little dull. So it’s Clooney’s job to keep you watching.

I think he will, because he’s a fine actor. In the same way Jack Nicholson and Paul Giamatti do in About Schmidt and Sideways respectively. But I still think I’ll wait until this comes out on DVD. It just doesn’t feel like a film that needs to be watched in a theater.

This is the video trailer for Mirror, Mirror, a new take on the Snow White fairytale. Directed by Tarsem Singh, Mirror, Mirror stars Julia Roberts and Lily Collins.

This is the second Snow White movie on its way. Don’t ask me why all of a sudden. The other is Snow White and The Huntsman starring Kristen Stewart from Twilight and Charlize Theron.

Judging on the trailers alone I’m seriously leaning toward Snow White and The Huntsman. That movie looks fresh, exciting, and something very different from what has gone before. This looks crap, quite frankly. Childish and labored.

The movies may end up defying their trailers, with Snow White and The Huntsman being crap and Mirror, Mirror being award-winning. But I doubt it very much.
