Fess Parker, known best for his roles as Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone, has died at age 85.

Both shows were a bit before my time, but I still managed to catch an episode here and there. I always loved Fess Parker’s roles, and I am sad that he has passed away.

I find it interesting the tone he speaks with and view he takes with becoming an actor today. I wonder if he looked at all the celebrity nonsense these days and shook his head in disgust.

Then again, I’m sure he had his days, too.

Rest in peace, Fess Parker.

March 17 is St. Patrick’s Day, when the Irish, people of Irish descent, and basically anyone who wants to be part of a massive worldwide party, celebrates Ireland and Irish culture.

But how do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day like a real Irishman? Here’s an 8-step guide informing you exactly how to manage to do so. Although some of the advice is questionable at best.

Guinness, green clothing, and a few choice Irish phrases are all essentials. But pinching people on the behind, attending church, and the whole malarkey with the clover are all optional extras.

So while I have to chuckle at this website idea, I can’t really judge it. They know what they want and they are advertising online for it. What’s wrong with that?

Think what you will of the behaviors and mentality of those involved, but they are still being honest about who they are (most of the time – there are exceptions).

This is the video trailer for The Cove, a full-length documentary film which won the 2010 Oscar for ‘Best Documentary’ at the Academy Awards.

The Cove tells the story of efforts to expose and halt the hunting and supposed slaughter of dolphins in the coastal Japanese town of Taiji. And it’s a powerful real-life drama sure to invoke an emotional response.

This won’t be a popular opinion but I think the outrage by westerners over the way Japanese fishermen are killing whales and dolphins is hypocrisy.

Forgive me if I’m mistaken but doesn’t every country slaughter millions of animals every year for food? Is a dolphin really that much different, and more worthy of having its life protected, than a sheep or a cow? Why?

Until everyone becomes vegetarian I think it stinks that certain countries are picked on for their traditional practices that have been going on for years. Because all the while we’re shoveling chickens and every other kind of meaty animal into our mouths we’re huge hypocrites.

The Millionaire Matchmaker is a Bravo show which sees L.A. matchmaker Patti Stanger trying to find the perfect matches for millionaire men who, despite their bank balances, have so far failed to find love.

This week sees Jimmy D (Jimmy D’Ambrosio), the owner of several bars and nightclubs in Chicago, return to the show for the second time. Stanger failed to find his match last season so tries once again.

Jimmy turned viewers off somewhat last season with his cocky, over-confident arrogance. And it doesn’t look as though he’s watered down that side of his personality at all.

You’ll either love or hate The Millionaire Matchmaker, and Patti Stanger to boot. This video shows Stanger explaining her methods and how she works in trying to matchmake people.

I’m sure we’ve all of us had at least one experience of being outside, miles away from home, and needing to take a dump rather desperately. It’s no one’s fault, it’s just a by-product (quite literally) of our body dealing with waste products.

However, the vast majority of us, faced with that situation, do all we can to find a toilet to use before we crap our pants. But not his guy. He spots a plant pot and takes the opportunity. Hell, if soil is good enough for cats then it’s good enough for him.

This video has given some people the chance to air their inherently racist views. The mall is in America and it doesn’t appear that the guy has been in the country for long. Although even that may be an assumption too far.

However, wherever he has come from, this isn’t behavior you can ascribe to everyone from a certain country or race. The fact is that he’s a dirty git who is happy to crap in the middle of a busy shopping mall. So you can only hate on him, and him alone.

Watch the latest version of the ‘Shift Happens’ from The Economist, updated for autumn 2009, and sit back in amazement at the way the world is changing.

To say the world is changing ‘fast’ seems like a major understatement given some of the facts cited in this video.

All these facts and figures are pretty amazing, but I would like more research to be done on how this is affecting our behaviour and psychology as humans.

Is all this social media and rapidly advancing technology helping us or hurting us?

After being inspired by the movie Ghandi, Jon Henley decided that he would try to live the rest of his life without money.

It isn’t as rough as you’d think. In fact, I’m a bit jealous of the free food part myself.

The only material possession that Jon kept before he made is life-changing decision was a solar panel. With it, he powers his laptop and uses it to trade and/or ask for free things via online classifieds. For food, he goes dumpster diving and often gets a pretty decent meal.

Since I’ve worked at grocery stores, I know that management throws away pounds and pounds of food everyday because of company policies. Jon and his homeless friends take advantage of this system and (ironically) even criticize it.

Today is Feb. 14. Valentine’s Day. What do you mean you forgot? Oh deary deary me.

To be frank, this video actually tempts me to forget Valentine’s Day next year. At least until she punches the guy in the face. Everything leading to that moment is sexy and desirable, and something most men crave happening to them.

But is the sexy, teasing part worth the punch in the face? Possibly. And if the cleaning lady is younger and better looking than this one then there may be some fun to be had post-punch anyway. Oh yeah.

You can’t beat a nice cocktail in the summer. Lots of ice, lots of alcohol, lots of variety to get you head thumping. And there is no better cocktail than a margarita – it’s simple, tasty, and very effective.

There are many different ways of making margaritas. Some use a lot of alcohol, others use lots of different types. Some blend the ice in, some leave it floating. They’re all correct but vary the taste massively.

This video shows Bethenny Frankel’s Skinny Girls’ Margarita. With me not being skinny or a girl does that mean this drink isn’t for me? That would be a shame as it looks very tasty.

It’s a good, solid margarita recipe. The only part I’d question is the “four count” measure of tequila. I’d rather measure it thanks, especially as different people will pour at different speeds. And there’s no way she counts to 16 in this clip.

Google’s attempts at social networking haven’t gone smoothly up to now. Orkut and Jaiku have both failed to really take off in a mainstream way. So it’s trying again, this time with Google Buzz, which will be integrated into Gmail.

Email has somewhat fallen out of fashion these days. Certainly compared to what it once was. Simply because there are now so many other ways to commuincate with people on the Internet.

Twitter, Facebook, and Skype are just three such examples.

So what better way to launch a social networking project than to integrate it into everyone’s email account. It’s then kind of like email is evolving and becoming something new and different to what it has been.

Google Wave is the ultimate goal but Google Buzz is a good start.

I don’t know about you but when I think of Old Spice I think of a retro aftershave for old men that’s been around for decades. And it has, first being produced in 1938.

However, the brand now belongs to Procter and Gamble, which clearly wants to change that image. And this ad, which is one of the best I’ve seen in years, can only help that effort.

The guy in the ad is very good looking, and what he says manages to be both inspiring and mocking. What we’re left with is a funny ad which manages to keep your eyes on the screen, surely the number one job of any promotional clip.

Does this make me want to go out and buy Old Spice? No, unfortunately not. But it does make me want to see what it smells like. And a few more ads like this and I may be persuaded to actually purchase a bottle.

It may sound strange, but teachers, parents and researchers alike are singing the praises of Super Brain yoga – the three minute a day yoga exercise that can make you smarter.

I have only just watched this video, so I haven’t tried the exercise myself, but it sounds fascinating.

I love learning about alternate therapies and treatments for things, so this yoga move combined with acupuncture points looks great. It certainly can’t hurt to try.

I do wish they would have gone a little more into the technical side of how it works (the video was just basic) and how it stimulates the brain.

I suppose I’d better get to it now, huh?

Having spent Christmas sitting on the toilet for long stretches of time, I’m loathe to laugh and poke fun at people with a tendency for loose bowels. But this video is too funny to ignore. I can only apologize and hope fate has a sense of humor.

OK, so this video isn’t the Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad, mainly because that hasn’t been released yet. Instead, this is a bald man standing up for Tebow, his mom, CBS (which is due to air the ad), and the group bankrolling it.

The U.S. is such a divided country it’s hard to ever see it being united in the way it purports to be. Just one such example of a division is the pro-life/pro-choice divide, which supporters of both sides being very hard-line in their beliefs.

That’s why the Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad – which tells the story of Tebow’s mom being advised to have an abortion due to illness, rejecting the idea, and then going on to have a healthy son who is a champion college footballer eyeing up the NFL – is such a hot topic right now.

I don’t see there is such a fuss being made. Surely free speech means any group has the right to air their opinion in a commercial. I may not agree with the underlying message that seeks to outlaw abortion but I don’t see why the ad shouldn’t air.

After all, what’s stopping the pro-choice lobby airing a rival ad?

Come on. Is anyone truly surprised that the Lifetime channel would see something in the news like this and try to make a made for television movie out of it?

As is pointed out in this video, no one has really been able to talk to the actual girls to figure out what exactly happened with this, so I am hesitant to put any sort of judgment.

However, I do agree that it goes beyond coincidence that seventeen girls in the same high school all got pregnant around the same time.

It is a sad event, and I hope that this movie provides some warning to kids considering anything close to the same thing.

What could be better than a Burger King meal and a beer after work? OK, a McDonald’s meal and a whiskey and coke. But hey, I’m not complaining.

This video shows the opening of the world’s first Whopper Bar. It’s in Orlando, Florida, and doesn’t yet sell beers. But Burger King is opening new Whopper Bars in other parts of the world which do.

At the Whopper Bar in South Beach, fast food fans will be able to order a beer or two with their meal, as long as they’re of legal drinking age, of course. More venues are likely to follow.

In Japan, the Whopper Bars are selling whiskey highballs, which will make them the perfect place to dine before venturing on a night out. I really hope this idea comes to the U.K.
