Six months after Emmet Cole goes missing, a mysteries rescue beacon call from the Amazon encourages some friends and family to go in search of him. What they find when they get there causes more questions than provides answers…

In typical ‘mockumentary’ horror style, the ‘documentary’ crew follows the wife and son of Emmet Cole as they search for answers to his disappearance.

When the family reaches the lost ship, they find a lot of strange clues, like the beacon being attached to a shark cage in the water… and the shark cage looking like it was ripped open – from the inside.

It’s certainly a good start for mystery fans, but next week will show if it really caught audiences.

I’m 100 percent of the existence of paranormal activity and psychic powers. We know humans aren’t using their brains to their full capacity, and there is evidence to suggest some people learn how to tap into that, even in a small way.

However, the issue has been muddied by people such as Hydrick who pretend to have special powers in order to gain fame and fortune. Randi is still alive and doing his thing, while Hydrick admitted his act was all a fraud years later.

This is a special trailer for The Devil Inside, which opened strongly in the U.S. this weekend. It shows some of the audience reactions as they watched the film for the first time.

The critics hate The Devil Inside, with one even describing it as the worst movie of the year (even though we’re only a week in to it). But moviegoers are paying their money to see this film regardless.

It’s obvious why. The Devil Inside is the latest movie to adopt the ‘Scare the audience shitless’ tactic, following on from the likes of Blair Witch and Paranormal Activity. The critics hated those movies too.

The fact is people like being scared, as long as they know it’s all fictional and they’re not actually going to come to any real harm. The Devil Inside plays on that love of frights.

Halloween is done and dusted for another year, but the ghosts aren’t gone for everyone. Here Fox8 takes its news cameras into a real life haunted house. But this is much racier than anything you’ve heard about!

It seems these ghosts are more interested in getting down and dirty than rattling chains. And this family has the photographic evidence, or at least they claim they do.

I’m usually pretty open-minded about these matters, but I’m not seeing ghost sex here. I’m not sure exactly what I am seeing, but it’s not poltergeist porn. And perhaps the less said about that phantom phone message the better!

What the hell is that lurking in the trees? It looks like an alien, an archetypal gray that is recognized the world over, no less. But it can’t be, can it?

I do believe aliens exist. To think humanity is the only form of intelligent life in such a vast universe is the height of arrogance. And at least one species may have even visited Earth, although I’m not convinced.

However, this kind of footage just muddies the waters, because I really don’t think it’s real. The alien looks fake, the children in the video don’t seem bothered by it, and the whole thing just looks like a spoof.

Interestingly on my first watch through I didn’t even spot the alien. I was too busy looking at the orb of light clearly visible to the right of it. But I still don’t think it’s real, sorry.

With just a week to go before Halloween it’s rather fitting to watch this video of the cast of The Addams Family musical singing one of the numbers – When You’re An Addams – from the show.

The Addams Family musical didn’t quite manage to set Broadway alight in the way it was meant to. Middling reviews mean it will end its run at the end of the year, but U.S. and international tours will prolong its life.

If you want to catch The Addams Family musical on Broadway then do so in the next few months. And with special events being held over Halloween now would be the perfect opportunity.

This is a preview video of an episode of The Secret Circle titled Slither. It’s regarded as the best episode of the new show on The CW to date, and even these 19 seconds is enough to suggest that is accurate.

The Secret Circle follows a coven of teenage witches named the same as the title of the show. Slither sees the death of a major character, and someone’s grandma proving to have the ability to kick ass.

The CW has now ordered a full season comprising 22 episodes of The Secret Circle. This is despite ratings having fallen over the course of the show from 3 million to 1.8 million. I guess the network is hoping interest will be renewed.

The Secret Circle looks interesting, at the very least. But I fear it’ll be a one season wonder as so many shows seem to be these days. Because all that matters are the ratings.

This is the official movie trailer for Apollo 18, a documentary-style thriller which purports to tell the real story of the final, covert mission NASA sent to the moon. It doesn’t obviously, but it makes for a good film regardless.

The idea behind Apollo 18 is that NASA dispatched one last set of astronauts to the moon in a mission that has since been covered up. And that this is the found video footage showing what happened.

It’s a clever idea, although it can be surmised simply with the term, ‘Blair Witch In Space’. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good plot, just that it isn’t entirely original. Regardless, a lot of people are talking about this film as being a sleeper hit.

Apollo 18 opened on Friday (Sept. 2), so we’ll soon know if the finished product lives up to the considerable hype surrounding it. My guess is it won’t, because movies very rarely do.

This is the official movie trailer for Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark. It tells the story of a little girl haunted by strange creatures living in the deep recesses of her family’s house.

The trailer looks great. It makes me want to go see the full film to see what the creatures look like and to see what happens with the little girl and her parents. But the reviews aren’t great.

Most state the story is overly fussy and confusing, and that while the main cast do a great job in their individual roles, the whole film doesn’t turn out well. In fact, the original television movie from 1973 is better. Oh.

What went wrong? Guillermo Del Toro can usually be relied upon to deliver, with his unique style shining through. Perhaps the problem is that he only wrote and produced Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark while letting someone else direct.

Another day, another pointless Hollywood remake. This time it’s Fright Night, originally released in 1985. That version obviously wasn’t good enough, so we need a do-over. I guess.

The cast of Fright Night is awesome. Colin Farrell as the over-the-top vampire, Anton Yelchin as the next-door neighbor, Christopher Mintz-Plasse as his mate, and even David ‘Dr. Who‘ Tennant. But a good cast alone cannot guarantee a good movie.

I must say I’m not impressed with this trailer. It all looks a little cheap and nasty, and not exactly inspiring. Oh, the guy who has just moved in is a vampire! Who cares, as long as it isn’t my neighborhood.

You’d think there were no original ideas any more. Hollywood is intent on remaking or rebooting movies that have already been seen once. It makes me think I should have a go at writing a screenplay. It’d be better than the new Fright Night, that’s for sure.

This is the official movie trailer for Paranormal Activity 3, a prequel to the series which just keeps on getting scarier and scarier. I’m not even sure I can stomach this one.

The first two Paranormal Activity movies were good. Scary but good. I know they’re simple and made on a budget, but they work extremely well.

This third film follows the same principles laid down in the others but ramps up the scare levels by a few degrees. Which makes me wonder if I can actually see it. I certainly won’t attempt to do so alone.

Paranormal Activity 3 is due to be released on October 11, 2011. By all means head out to the movie theater to see it, but just remember to take a spare pair of pants with you in case the first get soiled.

What would you do if a giant hole formed underneath your bed suddenly and inexplicably? Assume it’s a gateway to Hell, obviously.

This video is a bit crap, let’s be honest. It just shows a couple of stills of the sinkhole. But it’s the best there is on YouTube so we’ll have to make do. It certainly doesn’t make the story any less compelling.

A 65-year-old woman heard a loud boom and discovered that this explosion of sound was as a result of a sinkhole forming under her bed. A sinkhole that is 32-inches in diameter and 40-feet deep.

This is actually a fairly small sinkhole, as sinkholes go. Some are hundreds of meters across and have swallowed whole buildings in a matter of seconds. Scary stuff. But still. Under your bed? That’s mortifying.

This video claims to show strange lights, UFOs, flying and hovering over the Radio 1 building in Central London. But as always it could be a big, smelly hoax instead.

I really don’t know whether to believe this is real or not. It looks real enough, but then there are so many ways of faking this kind of thing these days that it probably isn’t.

The claims that the crowd standing and staring prove this is real is BS. It wouldn’t have taken much to organize a few people to stop and look up to a specific part of the sky at a certain time. But I guess we’ll never know.

It sucks that as online video took off, which could have helped prove the existence of UFOs once and for all, video editing software meant it became so much easier to fake footage. So the waters are as muddied as ever.

The Huffington Post must be running out of news. Apparently this video is the top story on their site right now and it’s getting attention simply because it’s the first “bigfoot sighting” in years.

I thought we’d left Bigfoot and the Lochness monster back at the turn of the century, but now people are bringing them back with camera phones.

I find it funny how there are less and less sightings of UFOs now that everyone and their mom has a camera on their cell phone. Maybe I would have been interested back in the 90’s, but this hoax is just too played out.

It should also be noted that the uploader of this video also has numerous other Bigfoot clips on YouTube. So much for “accidentally stumbing upon Bigfoot.”

This video shows the Super 8 movie trailer shown during the 2011 Super Bowl. It’s short and gives very little away about the plot, but it’s enough to convince me I need to see the film.

Super 8 has been produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by J.J. Abrams, which is a scarily-talented combination. And it’s a project shrouded in secrecy.

From what little has been released, and can be ascertained from the trailer, Super 8 refers to the video camera being used by a group of teenagers to make a film. Unfortunately for them a government train crashes in their town and something very real and very dangerous emerges from the wreckage.

Super 8 isn’t being released in the U.S. until June, and other countries are going to have to wait even longer than that. No wonder Spielberg and Abrams are still just teasing what Super 8 is about.

This video shows two separate clips showing what is alleged to be the same UFO footage from two different angles. The glowing ball of light travels down slowly, hovers for a while, and then speeds off into space.

I firmly believe we, the human race, aren’t alone in this universe. The odds insist this isn’t the case. Whether UFOs are being driven by intelligent lifeforms from other galaxies though, that’s still up for debate.

If this is aliens then it would stand to reason they’d visit Jerusalem, a war zone which is likely to play a huge part in the end of the world as we know it. And a place where people claim to have a higher understanding of what life is about.

This could be a hoax, of course it could, but it doesn’t feel like one to me. There certainly doesn’t seem to be an easy way to define that this is a simple case of video editing. So, could it be real?

It’s October 31, which means just one thing: Halloween. But when and how did Halloween begin? And why do millions of children dress up and go out Trick or Treating? National Geographic has the answers.

This relatively short video spells out the history of Halloween and some of the traditions associated with it.

The celebration which became Halloween has been around for 2,000 years, with the Celts of Europe believing that Oct. 31 was the day when the worlds of the living and the dead came together. They lit bonfires to keep spirits away.

Religion then got involved, as it so often does, and Nov. 1 was labeled ‘Hallowmas’, or ‘All Saints Day’. Oct. 31 was therefore All Hallows Eve, which gradually morphed into Halloween.

Trick or Treat began as a form of extortion by poor Irish immigrants in the U.S. Giving treats to the youngsters became a way or avoiding vandalism, and so grew what has now become the main Halloween tradition.

Could it be that we’ve got evidence of time travel caught on film? After all, I don’t think mobile phones had been invented in 1928 when Charlie Chaplin’s The Circus was filmed.

Time travel is a compelling idea and one which fascinates most people. And why not? Who wouldn’t like to travel into the past, see history unfolding in front of their eyes, and possibly even get involved in some way?

If time travel is ever going to be invented/discovered, then it stands to reason that time travelers would have visited our time. But there’s no evidence that they ever have. Or is there.

This video shows what some are suggesting is evidence of a time traveler visiting 1928. Unfortunately I don’t believe it for a second.

It’s strange, yes, and I haven’t a clue what that woman is holding to her ear. But a time traveler with a mobile phone? That’s a long shot. Especially as I think she’d struggle to get a signal in 1928. And who could she be talking to anyway?

Following on from last month’s UFO sighting above a busy airport in China, there has now been a major UFO sighting above Manhattan, New York. Which is one of the most populous places in America.

One of the biggest arguments skeptics use against UFOs being anything paranormal is the fact they never seem to show up above cities, instead always choosing some out of the way place where only a couple of hicks reside.

But that argument is slowly ebbing away as UFOs are now starting to appear more frequently in built-up areas.

This video reportedly shows a dozen UFOs hovering high above Manhattan. Zoomed in photos show clustered lights which some described as being shaped like a jellyfish. Hundreds of people saw the lights and many reported it to the authorities.

Is this a sign of something? Is there a reason for this sudden upswing in major UFO sightings?

In season four, episode eight of Paranormal State, Ryan Buell takes his team to a West Virginia prison to face his – and their – fears.

According to the episode description – the episode called Darkness Falls – this prison is said to be one of the most haunted places in the United States.

For those who aren’t familiar with the show, Ryan Buell heads the Paranormal Research Society and Penn State University.

His research takes him all over the country (when possible) to help people with everything from poltergeists to outright demon possession.

Take it or leave it, believe it or not, but this is definitely one of the scarier (though not in every episode) series on paranormal activity that I’ve ever seen.
