This video shows the official movie trailer for The Vow, a new rom-com based on true events starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum. I have to say I’m not impressed.

The Vow tells the story of a couple who had a perfect marriage until a car accident puts the wife in a coma and makes her lose her memory. Her husband then has to win her love all over again.

McAdams seems to only make movies of this nature. Or at least I only notice her when she does. I guess she suits the storylines, and they suit her. As for Channing Tatum, I’m not a fan.

I won’t be watching this film, at least not in cinemas. But I’m guessing there will be many who do. Mostly women, naturally.

Gay marriage is one of the biggest hot buttons issues of modern times. We’ve applauded the states and countries who support it, and condemned those who continue to drag their feet. Now Australian activist group GetUp has added their voice to the debate with this moving advertisement.

It shows a snapshot of a life, the highs and lows, heartbreaks and triumphs, before finally offering footage of the big marriage proposal. The life seems perfectly ordinary, the images could have come from the existence of many young Australians. Except our hero is a gay man.

Right now he doesn’t have the happy ending the video promises, but its creators hope their work might change all that. If you share their vision you can sign the petition on the GetUp website.

This video shows a romantic wedding proposal that was worth the wait. The first part of the video follows the couple traveling the world and spelling out the words “We always knew.”

Taking the final photograph for the montage seems the perfect time for the Canadian pilot to pop the question to his lady love. Their friends unfurled the banner bearing the proposal’s words, and she really had no choice but to accept.

The cynic in me wonders why, if they always knew, it took six years to become engaged. But even I can’t deny this is pretty romantic stuff!

What starts out as a boring video showing people sitting on a train set for London turns into something much more exciting. Especially for one couple.

This wouldn’t be my choice of how to propose or be proposed to. Traveling to work on a commuter train is hardly a romantic setting, singers or no singers.

And if I’d been one of the passengers I would have probably switched carriages rather than listen to this racket. It’s also selfish behavior which could be considered anti-social. Or am I just a miserablist?

At least it’s memorable, and thanks to the wonders of handheld cameras and the Internet it will remain as a reminder of the event on YouTube for a long time. It may even outlast the marriage. Statistics would suggest so.

Comic-Con is all about star spotting, autograph hunting, and crazy costumes, right? Well for these crazy kids the San Diego pop culture convention was also about romance. Here we see one of the world’s nerdiest and sweetest marriage proposals.

I’ll warn you that the sound quality is terrible, although we never expect Hollywood style production values from an iPhone. However it’s worth suffering through all that external noise for the very cool punchline.

I’m going to give this lad the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn’t pop the question just to get a little closer to Patrick Stewart. May their union live long and prosper!

Animations are capable of amazing effects, showing in caricature emotions and reactions that seem beyond what a mere drawing should show.

The course of true love is not always smooth. Sometimes one has to overcome great obstacles to be with the one you are destined for.

Of course, most people don’t have to worry about someone else chopping their love up for dinner, but to each their own with the struggles lovers face.

This is such a cute video. The ending just makes the entire thing, I think. It is definitely a good video to start off a lovely weekend with.

Valentine’s Day is upon us, and all of you in relationships will no doubt spend the day being loving towards each other, giving each other cards and presents, and making sweet love after a few glasses of wine.

But how did Valentine’s Day originate?

Valentine’s isn’t actually a Hallmark holiday, as in one invented in recent times purely to sell cards and gifts under the pretense of being a long-standing, well-established day. But it sometimes feels like that as the need to give comes from all angles.

This video gives a potted history of Valentine’s Day, although there is some dispute about the exact origins. What’s clear is it began life as a pagan festival before being adopted by the Church. Just like Christmas, Easter, and every other important holiday then.

Michael Bublé is one good-looking man. He’s also a good-looking man who can sing extremely well. If he can cook too then he’s surely every woman’s dream Valentine…

Or maybe not, as in this new commercial for Crazy Love he keeps getting doors slammed in his face. Except for one person, who invites him in for a cup of tea and an impromptu sing-song.

Unfortunately for Bublé that happens to be a hairy biker who seems to be looking at the crooner with a mischievous look in his eye. A look that suggests he’d like to spread Bublé on toast and eat him for breakfast.

I’m sure there’ll be some that regard this ad as homophobic, but I don’t think it is. The guy at the end may just be a fan, and not a crazed gay stalker with an eye on Bublé’s butt. Maybe.

As someone who’s been there, done that, I can tell you that long distance relationships suck. But one man made his a little sweeter by recording this music video.

Walter C. Mays, who happens to live with the band The Daylights, recorded this song with his flatmates as a digital love letter to his beloved who recently moved across the country. He could have told her about it, but he figured it’d be much more fun for her to stumble across it if it went viral.

Of course that level of internet fame probably wouldn’t do the band any harm either. Cynics are claiming this is just another one of those marketing campaigns with a cute story attached, but the romantic in me hopes it real.

Either way, it’s pretty cool!

After months, if not years, of speculation that Prince William and Kate Middleton were about to get married, the pair have finally announced their engagement.

William and Kate got engaged six weeks ago but put off the announcement until now to allow the royal protocols of such events to be put in place. They also didn’t want to overshadow Remembrance Sunday.

The couple, who will probably be King and Queen and England one day, met eight years ago while both studying at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. They started dating a few years later.

The royal wedding will take place in the spring or summer of 2011, and I suspect millions of people will watch it, either in person or on TV. Let’s just hope this marriage lasts longer than most royal ones have of late.

Doug Stanhope is probably my favorite progressive comic right now. Much like George Carlin and Bill Hicks, he isn’t very mainstream due to his controversial views.

Now that some of my peers are getting married, I just feel awkward about being invited to their weddings. As Doug points out, “Don’t think for a second that anyone wants to actually go to your wedding!” Half of me wants to support my friends, and the other half thinks that marriage doesn’t work.

A lot of Doug’s points make perfect sense but will they ever be the majority opinion? I highly doubt it in my lifetime. Marriage is an industry for a lot of people and as long as there is money to be made in Hollywood and on jewelry it’ll still exist.

When we say our wedding vows, we promise to love our partner in sickness and in health. Now 35-year-old Australian cancer victim Kristian Anderson has made good on his promise with this touching birthday video for his wife Rachel.

The video features appearances by New Zealand Prime Minister John Keys, a nod to Rachel’s Kiwi heritage, and Aussie actor Hugh Jackman. But it’s Kristian’s own words, presented on white cards as he generally talks too much, that make the greatest impact.

Kristian was diagnosed with cancer last October. It’s hard to imagine the toll it’s taken on the couple, married for seven years, or their two children. But I’m sure that, at least for a little while, this video made Rachel’s world seem a little brighter.

There’s no such thing as a simple wedding proposal these days. Washington DC native Jason Braswell is the latest man to go all out for love, and capture it on film.

His paramour Wendy believes she’s part of a documentary about finding love in the city. But it’s actually all a set up designed to conclude with Jason popping the question.

It’s an elaborate scheme, but actually one of the better proposals I’ve watched online. This vid does make for a lovely memento, documenting their lives together and that initial spark before they move on to the next stage of their lives.

This incredibly moving animated video tells the story of real life loves, Annie and Danny. She is a nurse and he is a horse betting clerk. They live in Brooklyn, New York, and are hopelessly in love.

But when Danny becomes ill, the cartoon takes a more somber tone. Yet even in the most trying of circumstances, we never question their love. This is the “in sickness and in health” stuff we all say in our wedding vows suddenly realized.

The ending is just as devastating as we inevitably knew it would be. I wiped back tears as I watched it, but it was a bittersweet sadness. Love on earth might not last forever, but love like this can never die.

Let’s face it, you either love or hate the Twilight series. We’ve had all the four books, and the first two movies, enough for everyone to decide whether they’re interested or not.

Now it’s time for the third movie, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and I suspect those who love the series will love it, while those who loathe the series will loathe it. Simples.

When choosing which review to post, I had to decide between this one, which is appreciative, and one from a guy who really cannot understand the appeal. But who will be searching for Eclipse reviews? Fans, of course.

I tried reading the first Twilight book and struggled to get to the end. However, I’ve enjoyed the first two movies, and Eclipse looks like being the best yet. So I think I’ll head out to see it at the cinema. Wearing a big hat so that no one recognizes me. Naturally.

Nature tells us that they should be sworn enemies, yet it seems no one filled the pair in. They’re quite happy to play together by day, and snuggle up at night.

Watching this couple spend time together, it’s obvious how much they adore one another. Whether it’s romantic love or a deep friendship I won’t speculate, but it’s definitely love!

Some people will do anything for money. Not only does the woman in this clip completely ruin her marriage on national TV in front of millions of people, but she goes home empty-handed.

Why don’t they just change the name from ‘Moment of Truth’ to ‘Moment of Public Humiliation?’

‘The Moment of Truth’ is one of those game shows that didn’t last very long simply because it was too exploitative. The concept was like 21 questions with money on the line, only, you had to reveal some very personal issues to get very far.

If you ask me, getting on other game shows like Deal or No Deal, Wheel of Fortune, and Who Want’s To Be a Millionaire are easier to win money on. Plus, they won’t ruin your reputation.

50 First Dates is a 2004 romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, ably assisted by Rob Schneider and Dan Aykroyd. This is the video trailer for the film, one I’d highly recommend watching.

50 First Dates sees Sandler play a Lothario who dates holidaymakers for a few days before dropping them and moving on to the next. He’s a shit, basically.

However, everything changes when he spies Drew Barrymore’s character. The problem is that she has no short-term memory, having lost it in a car crash a few years previously. So all his attempts to woo her only last one day, before he has to start all over again. Hence the title of the film.

50 First Dates is one of Sandler’s best films, with Funny People and Click the only two I’d rate higher. If you like rom-coms, and Adam Sandler’s particular brand of humor, then this is one movie you shouldn’t miss.

The Sugar Daddy for Me website matches up rich men with beautiful women who like to be pampered. This segment features a success story (marriage) interview.

I met my husband online, so I think online romance can be truly genuine, make it and translate well into the physical world.

So while I have to chuckle at this website idea, I can’t really judge it. They know what they want and they are advertising online for it. What’s wrong with that?

Think what you will of the behaviors and mentality of those involved, but they are still being honest about who they are (most of the time – there are exceptions).

Kudos to them.

Nick Waters is the kind of guy other men hate, probably because he makes them look bad. While they were watching sports on the television and playing computer games in the den, he was watching chick flicks.

Nick decided to watch 30 chick flicks in 30 days in efforts to become a better husband and get in touch with his feminine side.

Most girls could easily complete the challenge, but put yourself in his shoes for a while. That’s an awful lot of kissing, a whole lot of tears, and plenty of gooey sentimentality.

But Nick survived, and probably earned a lot of brownie points with his wife as a result! Now I wonder whether she will return the favor with those action movies!
