Kenny Brooks has to be the funniest door to door salesman I’ve ever had the privilege of watching. If this is how he sells a household cleaner, i’m sure he can teach a few college communication majors a thing or two.

Kenny is a fan of Tony Robbin’s motivational courses and you can clearly see that in this very-motivated sales pitch.

Geared with an almost endless amount of clever similes, he helps break the ice in this age almost no door-to-door salesman. It’s been years since I’ve actually opened the door and had someone try to sell me something, but I’d actually be glad if someone like this showed up.

The best moment has to be when he’s asked the question “What are you selling?” to which he replies, “Personality. But this stuff sells itself.”

Well, it looks like there will be two competing tablets this summer. If you asked me a year ago if the iPad and the Nook were even in the same league I would have laughed.

But now all that has changed with the Nook Color.

Aside from adding color (which needed to happen a while ago if you ask me), the new Nook will be getting Flash in April- which the iPad doesn’t even have (officially anyways).

And $300 is a pretty damn good deal for something that can allow you to go on YouTube, check gmail, and read textbooks on a portable “7 screen.

This is almost a student’s dream device.

Black Friday has come and gone, but just in case you didn’t get any good deals there’s one more opportunity before the holidays- Cyber Monday!

In fact, 1 out of 6 Americans is expected to buy something online on Cyber Monday this year. This video is a quick and helpful guide on where to find deals and what scams to look out for.

“Cyber Monday” as well as “Black Friday” are merely marketing terms by the National Retail Federation. Even so, major retailers that play along with the hype actually give out great deals. Walmart, of course, is the king of retail bargains and has unsurprisingly stepped up their online deals this year.

I, for one, am looking forward to the huge discounts the Amazon will offer. The tip about 10AM couldn’t be more right- last year their website was frozen for a good hour or two around noon.

The biggest shopping day of the year for people in the United States – Black Friday – is coming up, and shoppers are already eager to find out what kind of deals they can get their hands on.

Let’s just hope nobody gets trampled to deal this year, shall we?

While I always find the masses of people racing around for a deal rather disturbing (and sickening on a physical level), I also understand the desire to find deals.

Especially this year when the average worker’s dollar has to stretch further than ever, people will be scouring the advertisements for the best deals.

So what’s new about the latest MacBook Air? A 7-hour battery life and flash storage.

But just in case you’re a Apple fanboy and want to spend 5 minutes gawking over the other obvious details, feel free to watch the complete promo above.

After the iPad came out for around $800 and Apple reported earning over $4.6 billion last year, I hoped that they would finally start producing cheaper portable computers. While this new MacBook is certainly faster and smaller than most laptops it’s still around $1000.

Call me crazy, but I’ll take a 2.4ghz duo core 250GB MacBook Pro over the new 1.4ghz 64GB Air any day at the same price. I fully expect Apple to do a “dramatic” price drop within the next year to generate more buzz.

Credit cards have virtually been the same for the last 20 years or so. With identity theft rising every year it’s about time a company came out with something this smart.

Finally, you don’t have to worry about losing your credit card(s) or fumbling for the right one.

Most things that have to do with banking now require a computer and 99% of the money in the world is virtual, so it only makes sense that a credit card would be designed to fit these standards.

The fact that the person showing off the product hints about it being included in “announcements as time progresses” is a good sign. Perhaps US credit card companies have finally taken a step in the progressive direction for once.

The biggest fashion show ever in New York city is on, with Fashion’s Night Out 2010 presented by Vogue in full swing.

This fashion show and other festival events are meant to make shoppers feel better about shopping and buying after the industry took a dive during the recession.

Opening their doors to retailers and fashion moguls from both the US and around the world, there are events happening even outside of New York.

Whether the opportunity to mingle with the great names of fashion will prove to being a buying incentive remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a push in the right direction.

I truly believe I’ve seen both the best and worst humanity has to offer since regularly watching and writing about YouTube videos on the Web.

This video shows the worst of humanity, where greed and materialism wins out over civility.

The location is an electronics store in Portugal where there were bargains to be had. We’re talking cheap big-screen TVs and Blu-ray players here. And that is enough for people to forget about personal safety for a couple of hours.

The crowd outside effectively wages war on the door, knowing it (and the poor staff backing it up) is all that stands between them and some cheap electrical goods.

50 people ended up getting injured, with one elderly woman eventually dying in hospital from her injuries. Which was clearly worth a few selfish people saving a couple of hundred dollars on a new TV set.

This is a good reminder that humans are, whether you like it or not, still animals at heart.

It’s Black Friday all over again at Old Navy this weekend. Starting tomorrow at 7:30 AM, stores will open selling flip flops for only $1!

Just to get an idea of how crazy this sale might be, check out this video of a store in Arkansas last year that had a football-field sized wait. The sale is said to be even bigger this year.

If you don’t mind waiting 45-60 minutes for some flip flops, then this sale might be for you. I, on the other hand, don’t usually wear flip flops but this footage is still interesting to me. It’s as if the people waiting in line have no idea that Old Navy flip flops are only $3.50 on regular days.

Sure, if you buy 5 pairs, you’re saving about $12.50- but what about all the pain and suffering?

I have a love/hate relationship with infomercials.

When you’re up late at night unable to sleep then they’re manna from Heaven, providing entertainment when there is nothing else on TV. But the rest of the time they’re terrible, and make me change channel immediately.

This video is, therefore, a godsend for me. It puts all the clips of people messing up together in one compilation. Which means I can just watch this without having to sit through the solution to each problem which follows in the full infomercial.

What this compilation does show is how bad the acting is in some of these infomercials, and how stupid you’d have to be to even face some of the problems outlined. I mean how many people really miss the pan when frying an egg or find their whole burger falls out the back of the bun? Seriously.

Here’s a video of one lucky bastard. He managed to get the new Space Jam XI 2009 shoes (aka the Space Jam Jordans) back in August for $175. For everyone else, the shoes come out today.

The retail price of the shoes was supposed to be $175. However, because of the demand for the shoes, some stores are raising their prices to as high as $250.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the movie Space Jam and Air Jordans are a kick-ass shoe- but for $250 I could get 3 shoes! Apparently, many other consumers don’t mind the price since, as of this morning, many Footlockers are already sold out.

Some of those lucky enough to grab a pair are even re-selling them on Ebay for even more ridiculous prices. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this release because they were originally scheduled to come out on Black Friday. It looks like Nike is milking these new Jordon’s for all they are worth.

Cyber Monday 2009 has arrived, and like every other year, this is a day all about nabbing online bargains. But what is Cyber Monday and where can you get the best deals?

It’s Black Friday today, in case you hadn’t noticed. Which means there are bargains to be had in certain sectors. One of which is video games, with the industry desperate to finish a year affected by the recession on a high.

This video shows the Top 10 Black Friday deals for gamers. After watching it, you’ll have to leave the house and get to the stores quick or risk facing disappointment as all the best deals end or sell out.

This video is good not only for the consumer information but because of the way it’s presented. Forget a boring, monotone delivery of a Top 10 list, as this is also funny and original to boot.

Some of the offers on show are Halo 3: ODST for the Xbox 360, a range of Nintendo DSi bundles, Rock Band Special Edition with all the instruments, PS3 console bundles, and Xbox 360 bundles.

This video shows a salesman trying to sell a Nintendo Wii system bundle complete with Wii Sports and some peripherals. And naturally, as is the case on shopping channels, he demonstrates what he’s selling. Or at least tries to.

The video doesn’t really get going until 4:50, so skip to that point. And then watch the fun.

The guy has attached the pointless tennis racket to the Wiimote to play Wii Sports Tennis. Unfortunately, he didn’t push it all the way on and it consequently flies off on his first serve and smashes the TV screen.

The director cuts away quickly but you can still hear the laughter from the co-presenter. She is cracking up at the ineptitude of the guy, and even he admits he’s messed up big time.

I just wonder if the cost of the television came out of his wages.

I don’t know about you but I find wiping my ass one of the simplest things I have to do on any given day. It’s hardly rocket science now is it. But clearly some people have trouble, and need a bit of a helping hand.

They need Comfort Wipe, a revolutionary new tool which, although it may look like a stick with toilet roll on, is genius. Why hold something with your hand when you can stuff it in the end of a stick instead?

Sadly, this isn’t a spoof commercial, it’s actually a real product that’s for sale right now. Apparently, toilet paper is “really archaic and disgusting,” which is why someone needed to invent a tool to replace it. Except Comfort Wipe doesn’t do that, still needed toiler paper to work.

I can understand the need for such a device for old, infirm, or disabled people. I’m not totally ignorant or unsympathetic. But do able-bodied people really need this product for wiping their ass with? I don’t think so.

Infomercials are a strange beast. They are obviously there to try and entice us into buying something – we all know this yet we still watch them time and time again. Or is it just me, a victim of staying up too late at night with nothing on the television?

The Dual Saw is, well a saw really. That’s all in essence. Yet it’s one of the talking points of the day today after the Discovery Channel’s Pitchmen show with Billy and Sully. It definitely isn’t just me then.

This video isn’t the infomercial itself but rather a compilation of clips showing some guy going to town on all manner of materials. The Dual Saw cuts through them all, naturally, but then even I could have got into the cardboard box, saw or no saw.

My favorite infomercial has to be for the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. Here is a guy I’ve never heard of trying to sell me a juicer which most reviews claim isn’t actually all that good. Yet I’ll happily sit there watching the infomercial. Do I need to get out more?

Who doesn’t like ice cream? Very few people, I’m guessing. And if you like ice cream there’s a good chance you’ll like Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. What’s not to love? It’s delicious and the flavors kick butt.

That being the case, today is your lucky day. Ben and Jerry’s is holding its annual ‘Free Cone Day’, an event that has been held ever since the company was set up 31 years ago. Just head down to your nearest Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shop to claim your free cone.

I’d personally love to get some free Ben and Jerry’s but as far as I know there aren’t any Scoop Shops in the UK. You lucky Americans. I’ll have to content myself in the knowledge that our chocolate is far superior to yours.

Ben and Jerry’s expects to give away two million scoops of ice cream today although that may increase due to the recession. After all, this stuff isn’t cheap and so people may take every opportunity to grab a freebie they can.

While some Americans were feeling the heat of the recession this Christmas, it’s safe to say that the general holiday tradition is to “shop till you drop.”

Reverend Billy, the man who performed an exorcism on a credit card machine in a Victoria Secret store, can actually be seen preaching against the evil act of holiday shopping in this documentary titled ‘What Would Jesus Buy?’

Shoppers beware! This is “the movie Santa doesn’t want you to see.” Back in 2006, Rev. Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping Gospel Choir took a cross country road trip to shake up places like the Mall of America, Walmart headquarters, and even Disneyland.

I’m not a very religious person, but this documentary looks both entertaining and educational. Rumor has it that Rev. Billy was arrested over 10 times while making this movie. Who knows, maybe it’s the “Super Size Me” for consumerism.

The chances are that wherever you are in the world, you will have now opened your Christmas presents and know if you got all that you desired. If you received a new iPod then this video is just for you.
