The Hunger Games is promising to be the next big movie franchise when it hits cinemas in March. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of film-related viral vids at that time, but for now Holly Laurent is ahead of the rest with her Lana Del Rey song spoof “Hunger Games.”

This well produced video perfectly parodies the indie darling’s hit single “Video Games.” It looks the business, Holly Laurent’s note perfect in mimicking Del Rey, and the lyrics are very clever.

It’s almost enough to make me want to read those books, just to get all the jokes. Or perhaps I’ll need to revisit the video after the movie’s release!

SOPA and PIPA are two pieces of legislation threatening to kill the internet as we know it. And you know what that means people: no more LOLcats.

This protest song, a parody of Don McLean’s “American Pie” imagines a world without those lovable kitties, and indeed many of the websites we take for granted. If you thought doing without Wikipedia today has been tough, consider the long term ramifications of the laws.

Indeed, we wouldn’t have awesome song parodies like this. Perhaps it’s time we all stopped changing our Facebook user pictures and Tweeting about it and took real action!

Enough of this ‘Sh*t Someone Or Other Says’. It’s lame, it’s hardly ever funny, and it reinforces crass stereotypes. Let’s end it immediately, and let’s do so by spoofing the whole meme with one fantastic video.

This is an attempt to kill the latest meme dead. The latest meme being others trying to take their lead from Sh*t My Dad Says, which began life on Twitter before becoming a TV show.

That used actual quotes from some guy’s father. Whereas Sh*t Girls Say was just a spoof take on that and threw in assumptions of the kind of things girls can say on occasion.

Sh*t Nobody Says works because this is things no one in their right mind has ever said. And if anyone ever does utter such banalities it’s only right and proper to walk away from them without responding.

You’ve all watched the official trailer for The Dark Knight Rises by now, yes? How about The Lion King, which you’ve had 17 years to catch up on. How about watching a combination of the two?

This video is a mashup of the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises (audio) and The Lion King (visuals). It works much better than it ever should have done. It looks like it was always meant to be this way.

Someone should give this guy (or gal) an editing job. Seriously. I’ve seen some truly awful movie trailers down the years; some which give away too much, some which give away too little, some which are just unwatchable.

If this person can produce something of this quality when splicing two movies together just imagine what they could do with a blank slate. Awesome, awesome job.

We have all seen plenty of different takes on the MasterCard ‘priceless’ ads, but this one has to be the most brilliant.

Take a few breaths, stop drinking so much caffeine and appreciate this mockery of a financial giant for what it is: just plain heaps of fun.

What happens to the people shown on the news slipping over on the ice? What effect does the national humiliation have on a person? The Man Who Slipped On The Ice discovers the back story…

Last winter was a bad one in Ireland and across the U.K. Which meant the news got to show lots of footage of people slipping over on the ice. Including a man called Brendan Adhere.

One year on we catch up with Adhere to find out how he was affected by the whole incident. Mr. Slippy hasn’t been having a good time of it, but he does manage to revisit the site of his accident.

This is a brilliant video, and a great idea. I doubt anyone has ever thought about the fate of these people, merely laughing at them from behind their TV. Until now.

You surely cannot have missed the Occupy Wall Street movement which has now expanded out to other U.S. cities and other countries as well. But how do different newspapers, magazines, and websites decide how to cover the story?

This video shows how various publications come up with the headlines to use alongside Occupy Wall Street stories. OK, so it doesn’t really as it’s a spoof, but it’s a very well-made one containing some truth.

Examples are The New York Times keeping things simple, Fox News blaming it on Obama, Maxim focusing on a hot girl, and my favorite which has The Huffington Post copying The New York Times with a bigger font.

This isn’t mocking the Occupy Wall Street movement but rather the way it has been portrayed in the media. It’s a reminder that while the press may be free in the U.S., it’s anything bu unbiased.

Weird Al Yankovic is now a national treasure, surely having reached that status after so many years of spoofing pop stars and chart toppers. And he is just as good live as he is in his videos and on his records.

This video shows Weird Al Yankovic performing at the New Brunswick State Theater earlier this year. The show was part of his current 2011 Alpocalypse Tour, which includes tracks from the new album as well as many of the classics.

We get to sample Yankovic singing Confessions Part III, eBay, Bedrock Anthem, Another One Rides the Bus, Ode to a Superhero, Trapped in the Drive-Thru, Gump, and Eat It.

If Weird Al ever toured the U.K. I’d go and see him a heartbeat. He manages to reinvent himself all the time, taking on the latest singers and songs, as he has done with Lady Gaga and Perform This Way. Absolute genius.

Forget ratings and album sales; I reckon you haven’t really made it until you’re parodied on Sesame Street. Welcome to the big time Glee!

I don’t think any Glee fan is too old to appreciate this video. You may be all over the various G sounds, but I bet you’ll get a chuckle out of the Muppet versions of Glee’s teens and teachers.

The Rachel is even more of a demanding diva, and even on this kid-friendly show the Sue is every bit as mean. But just with the original version, everything ends up alright in the big musical number!

What if George Lucas had the desire and permission to go back and edit more than just his beloved Star Wars in order to make more money from a Blu-ray release? Our classic movies may end up looking something like this…

This is such a clever idea for a video, and one of those gems I’m grateful someone created and uploaded to YouTube. Not only is it funny, it makes the point that Lucas should leave well alone.

Crucially, this parody inserts Darth Vader screaming ‘Nooo’ into some truly classic movies. Star Wars may be loved, but so are the likes of The Lord Of The Rings, The Godfather, and Jurassic Park.

My favorite, however, has to be Dumb and Dumber, because it just seems to fit. Darth Vader screaming ‘Nooo’ is annoying, and George Lucas is dumb. So it all fits together perfectly.

You can keep your Star Wars loving celebrities raising awareness for cancer charities. I’d much rather get my sci fi fix complete with cute cats!

No, this isn’t yet another alteration from George Lucas. But it is brilliant, even if the special effects leave a little bit to be desired. While it may look a little bit amateurish, I predict you’ll also be cheering on the kitties when they lock light sabers.

Just like the original, I think this video is begging for a sequel. Let’s just hope that the saga stops before we get the awful feline filled prequel videos though, right?

A host of big name celebrities have gotten together to show their Star Wars loving silly sides for charity. Zach Galifinakis, Emma Stone, Ken Jeong, Seth Rogen, Aziz Ansari, Samuel L. Jackson and more all take part in this fun public service announcement for Stand Up 2 Cancer.

It’s all in aid of the cancer charity’s latest campaign called Use the Force For Good. It’s a fun gimmick, and one which allows the fantasies of many modern men to be fulfilled. Yes lads, you do get to see Emma Stone in those iconic Princess Leia hair buns.

It seems like fun and games, but there’s a serious message behind this playful clip.

This is Brock’s Dub of My Moment by Rebecca Black. To say it’s an improvement on the original is an understatement. At least he can sing.

Brock has already killed Rebecca Black off once, with her car from the Friday video plunging headfirst over the edge of a cliff. Unfortunately, unfathomably, she survived. No doubt pulled from the wreckage by someone who saw an opportunity to make some money.

So she returned with My Moment, her first ‘proper’ song which still contains so much autotune that you can barely hear her real voice. So Brock has made another attempt on her life.

Surely Black cannot survive her limousine blowing up. Can she? God I hope not, or she’ll be back with more caterwauling at a later date. When is the world going to realize she has no discernible talent other than owning an annoying face?

This video is both funny and insightful, showing how annoying and frankly grotesque some of these daytime TV appeals for donations have become.

I agree wholeheartedly with this video. Yes, it’s an over-the-top representation of these charity begging commercials, but the point is made well. Thankfully I am not easily swayed by clear attempts to appeal to my good side.

I have never signed my life savings over to a charity just because they made an advert trying to extort the money from me. And the same goes for those who step in front of you in the street, charity muggers, or chuggers, as they’re called.

I’ll happily give a one-off donation I know I can afford, but I will not sign up to see money leaving my account every month. And these kind of efforts actually put me off the charities involved.

You’ll never think of Skittles the same way again.

The thing you have to keep in mind when it comes to The Gruen Transfer is that it is an Australian show. For there to be things they can’t show you, it means it got very naughty.

Stepping back, it’s a very interesting world we are living in when brands can basically be hijacked by anyone with the technology and the wish.

I am only a smidge surprised that Skittles hasn’t had this removed. After all, I suppose the scandal really is worth it to them as a business.

Okay, so I gave it away with the ‘funny’ in the title, but still…

I have to hand it to the video creator. Of all the possibilities I was thinking of, I certainly didn’t think of Beavis and Butthead. It actually worked out quite well.

Honestly, I think that’s the kind of thing they would have to do to actually get me to buy this stuff. Why don’t they ever just let something die in Hollywood?

Breaking up is never nice, especially when it happens in a longterm relationship where you live together, are possibly married, and even have kids. But it is quite amusing to watch it happen.

This video shows a couple breaking up in no uncertain terms, with the woman having found out about her man cheating and chucking him out of the house as a result. She’s not happy, and neither is he when he realizes he is being filmed.

OK, so is definitely fake. It’s all too convenient, with the clothes coming out of the top window, the car arriving right on cue, and the guy noticing the camera at just the right moment. Fake, fake, fake!

It still make for good viewing though, and actually, whoever planned this scene out is pretty talented. I’m actually wondering if this will turn out to be some sort of viral advert, although for which company and product I haven’t a clue.

Do I smell a new online series? This is hilarious. When you have people saying they’d buy this in the comments, I think you have a winner.

I don’t think anyone could have predicted something like this back in the days of NES and jumping on mushrooms.

The Inbetweeners Movie is out now in the U.K., and only the U.K. because I don’t think any other country know what The Inbetweeners are.

This is a spoof version of the trailer for the film. The team behind The Sims 3 have used the game to create characters who look like Will, Simon, Jay, and Neil, and tried to sum the movie up using just scenes from the PC title.

This works incredibly well. It doesn’t follow the trailer exactly, but it gives an essence of The Inbetweeners Movie which makes me want to go and see it even more.

For those not in the U.K. I’d highly recommend checking the sitcom out. Yes, the humor is very British, and yes, it’s a little rude at times. But funny is funny in any culture isn’t it? Even the Germans would laugh at this.

I’ll bet you thought all those viral cat videos captured candid moments shot by adoring pet owners. But think again. As this video shows, these clips are actually churned out by a canny film studio called Kittywood.

This video takes us behind the scenes of this feline Hollywood equivalent. We learn about the script writers, the camera men, and the talent that take each Kittywood production from the studio to viral video status.

I hope you’re not too disappointed to hear that these beloved videos are the brainchild of some clever film executives, and not just spontaneous moments. They’re adorable anyway, right?
