I don’t know how they managed to do it, but these bears play hockey better than some kids. Notice the cute fight the end. Awww.

I guess it isn’t a real hockey game if nobody gets hurt.

Before you dismiss this video as animal cruelty, it should be noted that some ice-skating bears have killed their trainers. If they didn’t want to participate, I’m sure they would have attacked whoever put their skates on in the first place.

Concerning their actual playing abilities, they seem to be getting really into it! It just goes to show you that competition isn’t only a human thing.

This video is the reason why I would never play ice hockey. In fact, I’d probably never even go ice skating for fun due to the possibility of this happening. Chicago Blackhawks’ Adam Burish is lucky to be alive.

It shows Burish getting his throat sliced by the blade of one of his teammate’s skates. The ice skate comes up level with Burish’s head and then across his neck, cutting his throat open in the full view of the crowd there and the television audience.

The replay is really quite horrible to watch, especially when they slow it down in order to show the full spectacle unfolding before our eyes. I wince every time I watch it even though I know the player is OK.

The thing is that it could have been so much worse. If the blade had been higher at the point of contact or swung past with more force then Burish could have bled to death on the ice due to a simple accident. Seriously scary.

The battle for the White House is hotting up. While the main war of attrition is between John McCain and Barack Obama, the vice-presidential candidates also have a say.

Joe Biden seems an honest, open, and safe bet. Sarah Palin doesn’t. She’s not liked by many people, as Philadelphia Flyers fans prove in this video.

Palin walks out on to the ice and gets jeered for her trouble. All the way through, from stepping on the ice to dropping the puck, she’s booed very loudly.

It’s a good job Palin will never see office as McCain is way behind in the polls. Which will clearly make Flyers fans happy.

While the best hockey fights involve tons of violence, other fights can be downright embarrassing.

This one on the other hand, is just plain cute.

The kids in this video can’t be much older than 5 years old, yet they’re already developing bad habits that professional NHL players have. The one on the offense can be seen slapping and pushing down other players, even his own teammate!

My guess is that angry little Timmy here was trying out some moves he learned from watching TV. Of course, he forgot one rather important factor: the ability to skate away. Watch as the tike trips over himself while trying to escape. Twice!

The music makes this clip even more hilarious. The next time my little sister wants to pillow fight, I’ll be sure to put on some System Of A Down for comedic relief.

Talk about a good way to freeze your balls off… all for what? A little trophy and some glory for a sport that draws a total of 10 people to come and watch it?

As an Australian I’m willing to admit that I don’t know a lot about ice hockey. But even I can appreciate the awesome skill involved in making this play.

This has to be one of the worst NHL hockey fights in history. Last year, the Montreal Canadians were against the Ottawa Senators when all of a sudden gloves were thrown down and two players squared off…

I have to hand it to the Russians; they certainly know how to put on a show!

I might even start watching hockey after this one.

My favourite part has to be at the beginning when the referee holds up his hands to ward off the other players from getting involved in the fight.

Somehow, he should have known that wasn’t going to work against big, big men in padded uniforms carrying sticks.
