Cowboys and Aliens has always struck me as a strange movie. Here we have a traditional western with elements of science fiction thrown in for good measure. Can this heady mix possibly work?
This IGN review suggests it works to a certain point, but not wholly. A score of 3.5 out of 5 is certainly good enough to tempt me to go and see the movie for myself, but I remain unconvinced.
To be honest I’d rather Cowboys and Aliens was more of a traditional western without the sci-fi element. Sure, it wouldn’t have been so original, but with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford starring it would have been compelling.
Cowboys and Aliens is out now, and I guess everyone will have to make their own minds up about it. I hated Transformers 3 while others loved it, which shows how vastly opinions can differ when it comes to movies.
