A couple of months ago I posted a video of Eddie Vedder jamming on a ukulele, which seems to have become his new favorite instrument of late. So much so that he’s releasing a whole album of ukulele tracks.
This video, or at least the audio that accompanies it, is one of those tracks: Tonight You Belong To Me featuring Cat Power. And it’s extremely beautiful and catchy.
I’d always thought the ukulele was an instrument for children or budding guitar players eager to start with something easy. But Vedder proves they can be a serious instrument capable of making great music. Bravo.
