28 sec read

The U.S. Presidential Election has finally arrived, after months of campaigning by both sides, rallies, television debates, and bitter commercial attacking the other candidate.

But do you know how the votes are counted? Or what the Electoral College is, and why it has the power to decide who runs the country for four years even if they lose the popular vote?

This video shows an explanation of how the Electoral College works. When it comes down to it each person’s vote really doesn’t mean much, especially if they live in a state which is heavily red or heavily blue.

Still, it’s a system that works, and has worked for centuries. It means that one person is chosen to run the United States of America. Sometimes they do it well, sometimes badly. Democracy in action.
