Eminem’s new album, Relapse, is a week away from release, but as is the norm these days, most of the tracks have leaked onto the Internet ahead of time.
This track, Bagpipes from Baghdad, is one where pretty much all of Eminem’s vitriol is aimed at Mariah Carey, his ex. Oh, and her new husband Nick Cannon also comes in for some stick. I feel handbags at dawn approaching.
While Carey hasn’t yet responded in the face of such a public dressing down, Cannon couldn’t resist. He wrote on his blog about how Eminem is going to have to “deal with the consequences of talking tough.” I’m sure Slim Shady is quaking in his boots.
As for the album, early reviews are positive, citing how Eminem has become much more understated while losing none of his edge. He also, it seems, has lost none of his ability at winding people up. Which is always fun.
