Fascinating Are Brambles Carnivorous? Video | A Dead Sheep Makes Good Plant Food

23 sec read

We know for a fact that some plants have evolved to be carnivorous. The Venus Fly Trap, for example, lures flies into its warm embrace, and then consumes them.

However, have we given other plants a pass all this time? Could brambles actually be carnivorous? This guy thinks so.

This guy argues that brambles have developed in such a way as to trap mammals in their spiky grip. These mammals eventually die, and provide the plant with vital nutrients.

It’s a compelling argument, and pretty scary to boot. If plants are this intelligent, should we be treating them more like animals? I can imagine vegetarians freaking out right about now.
