Funny “Hey There Delilah” Parody | Arab Version of Plain White T’s Song

“Hey There Delilah” is probably one of the most popular songs of the summer of 2007. If a mark of a good song is the time it takes to come up with a parody or a spoof of it, then the Plain White T’s definitely have a hit on their hands.

The lyrics of “Hey There Khalila” were penned by Remy, who seems to have made a quite a name for himself on YouTube. The song is sung by “Habib” who looks suspiciously similar to the lyricist, apart from a felt-tip pen beard.

I have to confess, the lyrics are borderline silly. “But I’m writing you tonight to say how much I miss your cooking/So I sob/Wipe all my tears up with a mop/There’s no kabob.” I mean, really? But I suppose that it’s amusing in its own juvenile way.

He does manage to steal the show with his subtle jibes at war and terrorism, as he grumbles about the food. “The ketchup here is really bad, the mustard’s not a deadly gas.” I do hope that Habib managed to get his kabob-fix.
