Genius 8-Bit Google Maps Video | Google Brings Maps To The NES For April Fool’s Day

It’s April the 1st! Which means just one thing for most of us: pranks galore, especially on the Web. As usual Google has pulled out all the stops.

This video shows Google introducing Google Maps for the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). The Nintendo console may be almost 30 years old but that shouldn’t mean it misses out on Google products.

Obviously Google Maps isn’t coming to the NES. But what’s amazing is that rather than just prank us all that it is, Google has actually created an 8-bit option for Google Maps. Even in Street View.

I was never a fan of April Fool’s Day pranks in real life, but on the Internet they’re great. I just avoid writing up any news as if it’s real, just in case it isn’t. Sometimes it’s very hard to tell.
