I’ve definitely seen my fair share of jets trying to land in the dangerous cross winds, with the strong winds making them resort to a sideways approach to the landing.
Definitely makes my stomach tie itself in knots, and I’m just watching! And this jet here tried a dangerous sideways landing, only to scrape its wing, nearly fly off the runway, and resort to taking to the air again.
Aw man, that is something scary there! I consider myself a well-traveled person, but the older I get, the harder and scarier the landings seem to become. Perhaps that is because I’ve seen one too many of these videos?
I know pilots say that the take off is much harder, but I’m sure they would agree there are exceptions, such as this. And the bad news is they will have to attempt this landing again, sometime! There is only so much fuel. GULP!
