HBO Pulls Gone With The Wind Video | Controversial Depiction Of Slavery

23 sec read

HBO has pulled Gone With the Wind off of its HBO Max streaming service. This is due to the controversial depiction of slavery and race issues presented in the film.

Essentially, Gone With the Wind portrays a romanticized version of the time.

In Gone With the Wind, slaves are happy and content to serve their white masters, when in reality, they were there against their will and often mistreated.

HBO isn’t removing Gone With the Wind for good, or removing parts of the film. Instead, it’s going to add a discussion of its historical context so that viewers are made aware of the issues.
