If she were still alive Lucille Ball would recently have celebrated her 100th birthday. Unfortunately the actress and comedienne died in 1989 at the age of 77.

Lucille Ball was most famous for being the star of I Love Lucy, which ran throughout the 1950s. This video is a recording from someone present in the audience as one episode was filmed.

You can see both the actual footage which played out on television and the view from the crowd, so this is almost like a behind-the-scenes look at this most iconic of early TV shows.

For her 100th birthday Google featured a logo dedicated to Lucille Ball on its homepage, with an old-style television set playing various clips from the show.
