I think that it has more to do with the fact that psychology is modern day hate speach. These kids who are already persecuted and abused by their classmates are further persecuted by their family, and doctors and further discredited when they are diagnosed with one of these naturally occuring conditions. Mental illness is a result of stress. The government doesn't want to admitt it because then they would owe their soldiers unimaginable ammounts of money. It is a long story that can be traced back to Freud who was so desperate to have his theories heard, he came up with a theory that governments would find great bennifit from implimenting. He blamed the victims of these inflictions for their inflictions. It is one of the oldest patterns in oppression, victim blaming. There could be some correlation.
