Lily Allen is as famous for her social indiscretions as she is her music. If she’s not topping the charts, she’s punching passers by, getting high, or slagging off another star. So giving her hosting duties at the GQ Man of the Year Awards was always going to be a gamble.
If only there wasn’t free champagne, perhaps Lily would have behaved herself. As it turns out, she became steadily more drunk until her co-host Elton John simply couldn’t take it anymore.
Lily attempts to fight back, but she was never going to best the Queen of Quips. Elton’s got more wit in his little finger than Lily does in her whole body. And that’s when she’s sober.
Before the show Lily said she hoped to work with Elton again. Somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen.
