YouTube sensations come and go like there’s no tomorrow, with a new one replacing the last quicker than I can say “who remembers Chris Crocker?”
However, the latest one, who goes simply by the name of Fred, looks set to hang around for a while, with four of the top 20 videos on YouTube belonging to the freaky sounding kid.

When I first saw mention of the annoying little twerp, I must admit to not wanting to even watch any of his videos and risk getting hooked in the same way I have with so many other Web video virals. Now I have bookmarked his YouTube channel.
However, I took the chance and am so glad I did. Yeah okay, so he sounds like something from Alvin and The Chipmunks, and has a face you instantly want to punch, but he is also very funny.

The above is Fred’s latest posting, and it shows the appeal, and his zany yet very funny sense of humour perfectly. You watch it half in awe and half wondering what the hell is going on.
Fred’s time will run out, that much is obvious, but for now I am loving every video the kid posts, and waiting for his next upload to appear. That is the true sign of a Web video phenomenon.
