Moving “It Gets Better” Video | Touching Story of Ordinary Gay Man

27 sec read

We’ve seen some amazing videos recorded for The Trevor Project’s “It Gets Better” campaign, including this one from Project Runway’s Tim Gunn. They all see adults speaking with authority to gay teens struggling with bullying, assuring them that it gets better.

While those videos all moved me, I’m not sure any have been quite as powerful as this one. There are no celebrities, no spoken words, just an ordinary guy telling his story.

Through his text we learn of his boyfriend and his dog, his suicidal thoughts as a teenager, and his relief that he survived those difficult years.

This is the kind of thing all young people should watch, whether they’re being bullied, whether they’re bullying someone else, or whether they’re just standing by a spectator.
