Nate Silver Explains His Election Predictions Video | Political Data Picks U.S. President

Nate Silver, the New York Times/FiveThirtyEight blogger who other political pundits love to hate, called the U.S. Presidential Election exactly right. And this video shows him explaining some of his predictions.

Silver uses a selection of data to predict results for each state, and then builds up a picture of the overall election from that. He correctly forecast the results of 49 out of the 50 states in 2008, and he’s 50 out of 50 for 2012 with Florida likely to give him a clean sweep.

It’s clear that many of the old-guard political commentators and pundits feel threatened by Nate Silver, but he’s merely using his own model to predict outcomes.

With such a resounding victory under his belt with this election I can guarantee more people will take notice of him next time around. Roll on 2016.
