Say hello to your new Secretary of Energy on President-Elect Obama’s cabinet, 1997 Nobel Prize (in physics) co-winner Dr. Steven Chu.

According to a press release on Bloomberg.com, Obama has already officially chosen Chu for secretary, but Chron.com is still reporting that he is ‘expected to’ choose him.

“The selection of a scientist rather than a Washington insider as energy secretary suggests that in the Obama administration, energy policy will be directed out of the White House rather than the Energy Department.” – Chron.com

Obama could certainly do worse than choosing a Nobel prize-winning scientist, that’s for sure. I’m just wondering how others will feel about the choice of an ‘outsider’ taking the seat.
