“Neighbours” Ian Smith Makes Music Video | Harold Bishop Sings “I Don’t Want to Be a Popstar, Too”

Beloved Australian soap star Ian Smith has unexpectedly released a campy music video. It’s titled “I Don’t Want to Be a Popstar, Too,” but the song seems to suggest a burning ambition to become just that!

Of course the cuddly grandfather who played Harold Bishop doesn’t have the singing chops of other Ramsey Street graduates like Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, or Delta Goodrem. But he certainly has enough showmanship to succeed.

I can’t imagine this track making a real splash on the pop charts, but it’s a shame that Australia isn’t eligible for Eurovision. The portly gent could surely give the competition a shake up!
