Beyonce has released a new self-titled album that’s being called The Visual Album due to the imagery and ready-made music videos for all tracks.
The Visual Album was announced at the same time it was released on iTunes, with 14 songs and 17 music videos featuring appearances by husband Jay Z, daughter Blue Ivy, Drake, Frank Ocean, and others.
This was an extremely clever move by Beyonce. The lack of notice months prior to release meant this album became a news story, which equates to free publicity.
How she kept the album secret is beyond me. So many people are involved in the production of the songs and music videos that it’s a wonder one of them didn’t spill the beans.
