Ricky Martin has officially come out, admitting on his personal Web site that he’s gay.
Is anyone at all surprised by this? I thought it was common knowledge that he was homosexual. And in fact I’m kinda surprised it’s taken this long for the man himself to finally admit as much in public.
Ricky Martin’s sexuality has been questioned for years, but he decided to keep the fact he is gay a secret for fear it could ruin his career. In which case, it’s no coincidence that he’s come out now that his career is faltering.
I personally think gay celebrities should come out a lot sooner than they tend to. If they don’t then they’re not being true to their fans. And there are now enough high-profile gay celebs that it shouldn’t affect anyone’s career anyway.
As for Ricky Martin – well, we all knew he was gay anyway, so it’s no big deal.
