This is the trailer for Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, an origin story, prequel, and franchise reboot all rolled into one. And I’m really not all that impressed with it.
The 1968 version of Planet Of The Apes, with Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowall, is brilliant, and still stands up today despite the dodgy make-up. But the 2001 remake by Tim Burton sucked balls.
It sucked so bad it’s influencing my views on Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. If the timeline follows on why would I care how the apes took over when I know the outcome features Mark Wahlberg acting terribly?
I probably will give Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes a go one week when there is nothing else good on at the cinema. After all, James Franco is always good, and Freida Pinto is hot. Reason enough?
