This is the trailer for Chernobyl Diaries, a new horror movie which sees a group of youngsters visit Chernobyl, site of the 1986 nuclear meltdown. It’s from Oren Peli, the guy responsible for the Paranormal Activity movies.
Some people are arguing that this movie should never have been made, and that it’s an insult to the victims of the disaster. I respectfully disagree.
This isn’t a comedy making light of the whole thing, it’s a horror that merely uses the location as a backdrop. I don’t actually see anything wrong with that.
The trailer is scary as shit. I suspect I’ll go and see the film itself but watch through my fingers. I love the Paranormal Activity movies and you can see the same style in Chernobyl Diaries. That guarantees it will make money.
