The worst nightmare for a reporter giving a live news report has to be losing the ability to speak or get the right words out in the right order. And poor Serene Branson experienced exactly that during a CBS News report from outside the Grammys.
As can be seen in the video, the anchors throw to Branson and apart from the first couple of words she cannot string a sentence together. Instead, she talks gibberish for 10 seconds before the director cuts away from her.
The first time watching this raised a smile, but then I realized that Branson could have suffered a stroke or some other serious problem. And once that crosses your mind watching her flub her lines really isn’t funny any more.
Some websites, journalists, bloggers, and commenters have been making foul comments about the incident and about Serene Branson. Accusing her of being drunk, stoned, or just unprofessional is pretty sickening when she could be very ill.
Branson was later admitted to hospital but no update on her condition has yet been offered.
