There has been a bit of internet controversy about this woman and whether or not the soldiers or her behavior would have changed had the camera not been there.
I honestly don’t think it matters. Even with the cameras there, she still didn’t have an absolute guarantee that one of the off-camera soldiers wouldn’t shoot her.
There is also talk about the soldiers firing rubber bullets and such. I say that doesn’t really matter either. At close enough range at the right spot, even a rubber bullet could be lethal – or at least permanently damaging.
People have been saying this woman is like the ‘Tank Man’ from China. Definitely close.
