Sony Dash Video | Web Device At CES 2010

The Sony Dash is now available to buy, after first being unveiled and shown off at CES 2010 and going on presale soon afterwards.

Personally? I can’t really see the point of it.

The Sony Dash is a small tabletop device which connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi. It has a 7-inch touchscreen, and comes with a host of Chumby apps which adds functionality to it.

However, it’s not portable, designed to be plugged in and sitting on a desk or sideboard. So I can’t see why anyone would choose this over the iPad or one of the many other tablet devices currently in development.

The price may help, as the Sony Dash is just $199, which is a lot cheaper than even the cheapest tablet. But even at $199 I cannot see the point.
