This is probably the most awesome video I’ve yet to put on WebTVHub, I love it to bits, and have watched it multiple times since stumbling across it last night.
Tesla coils are a type of resonant transformer which stores high voltage electricity until it’s released as you see above.
They’ve been around for over a hundred years but its only quite recently been turned in to a musical instrument.
The video here shows twin solid state musical Tesla coils being played by use of a midi channel and a single laptop computer… oh and quite a bit of programming ingenuity.
The music is obviously the theme from Super Mario Bros, and I’ve never heard it sound so good. There are other songs on YouTube, but this is by far the best rendition. Now I want me a pair!!!
