This video shows the teaser trailer for Total Recall, a 2012 retelling of the 1990 actioner starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. The full trailer is due to be released for the first time on Sunday (April 1).
Movie studios seem to be trying to build buzz earlier and earlier these days, but this is the first time I remember seeing a trailer for a trailer, which is essentially what this teaser is.
This new version of Total Recall cannot accurately be described as a remake. In reality (a fitting concept given the subject matter) this is a brand new movie based on the book. So the two films share the same source material but that’s all.
There will obviously be some crossover – it is the same story after all – but there are clear distinctions being made. Which means newcomers and lovers of the original should both be able to get something out of Total Recall 2012.
