In 1983, a miniseries called V was broadcast. Despite there only being two episodes, it spawned a sci-fi franchise which lives on to this day. There was a sequel, V: The Final Battle, and then a weekly TV series.

Now, 26 years after the original hit our screens, V is back, with a new series on ABC. The network is hoping V 2009 will be good enough to replace Lost, which is on its last season ever.

This video shows a trailer for the series, and there are a number of famous faces on show. Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost, Morena Baccarin from Firefly, and Joel Gretsch from The 4400 all have prominent roles in this remake.

The first episode of V 2009 has gained a mixed reaction, with some loving the new look and feel, and others criticizing it for being a pale imitation of the original. Either way, it’s got to be checking out, surely.
