“Fans and journalists alike have been saying for over a year that the Series X, the deluxe version of Microsoft’s latest Xbox console, looks more like a mini fridge — or a brick, or a monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey — than a video game system. Now, Microsoft has leaned into that with its latest gaming accessory.
“In April, the Xbox narrowly edged Skittles out in a Twitter competition called the “Brand Bracket.” Microsoft GM Aaron Greenberg had promised earlier that, should Xbox win, they’d go ahead and make official Xbox mini fridges.
“Now Microsoft is following through. In a particularly bombastic trailer, it promises to “leave others cold” with its new Series X lookalike cooler, the “world’s most powerful mini fridge.””
