Doug Stanhope is one of those comic that has never been mainstream, and will never be. Not because he isn’t a funny guy, but for the controversial style of his comedy.
As he often states on stage, “My comedy is like leading troops into battle- some of you aren’t gonna be here when it’s over!” Don’t watch this video if you’re easily offended.
Often compared to classics like Lenny Bruce & George Carlin, I happen to find Stanhope funnier than both. His topics vary so much that he eventually gets to a subject that you WILL feel awkward about.
