“Johnny Depp will fly back to the United States for surgery on his hand after being injured on the Gold Coast last weekend, according to showbusiness website Variety.
“The 51-year-old actor has been filming Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales on a sprawling set at Helensvale. However it’s understood he was not filming or on the set at the time he hurt his hand.
“It’s believed the incident will have only a minimal impact on filming, with work continuing on scenes not featuring Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow.
“Pirates 5, which is set for release on July 7, 2017, has come under threat from a couple of strange events already, including from a pirate and a cyclone.”
