Use a material that can absorb heat to separate the ice from the fire, such as the silica tiles used to cover the space shuttles. Although those might fail due to their weakness but still, even graphite would work as a heal absorber.

The only thing I’m worried about is, can ice handle the g-forces involved with being shot from a gun?
