“We now have a second named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. The National Hurricane Center on Sunday morning said the system forming in the Bay of Campeche “is gaining more latitude” and showing slightly stronger winds than Saturday. For that reason, the NHS has named the storm Tropical Storm Barry.
“”Within the past 20 minutes, a northeast inbound leg into the storm found 850 mb flight level winds of 43 kt, and a dropsonde with a surface wind gust of 39 kt,” wrote the NHS in its Sunday morning update. “This recent wind information is the primary basis for increasing the winds to 35 kt, making the depression Tropical Storm Barry.””
