I’ve already talked about my love of Weird Al Yankovic when I highlighted the video of his first ever television appearance, but this is one of my favourite songs of his.
Using I Want It This Way by The Backstreet Boys as the backdrop, he changed the lyrics to talk about his obssession with online auction site eBay.
As far as I can tell, this video was made by a fan, just to give some visual representation to the brilliant spoof song, and it works surprisingly well, with images to match the song flashing up on the screen.
I guarantee you’ll watch this video more than once, if for nothing more than the “Shatner’s old toupee” or the “A Kleenex used by Dr Dre” lines.
Yankovic has an unnerving knack for tapping in to the Zeitgeist of the day and producing brilliant songs around them, and this is one of his best examples yet. Brilliant.
