Wow, this is scary stuff. I was on the edge of my seat throughout. He was obviously never going to get eaten alive because the video would never have been released, but still, I feared for the guy.
This reporter had clearly been told it was safe to climb into a cage with lions and rub their bellies. After all, the trainer does it all the time and apart from a 1980s mullet doesn’t seem to have been harmed.
However, this is fresh meat, literally. The lion doesn’t know the guy, his smells, his touch, and being a meat-eating predator does what comes naturally – attacks the reporter in an effort to score a big lunch.
The guy does amazingly well not to crap himself and run for the door, which is what I’d have done. Actually, scrub that. I would never have entered the cage in the first place; it’s got a man-eating lion in it for Christ’s sake!!!
