2009 has arrived! Probably, depending on where you are in the world. This video shows the huge and very impressive fireworks display on show in Sydney, Australia, one of the first big capital cities to welcome in the new year.
Australia always puts on a good display because it knows, due to its proximity in the eastern most section of the international timeline, that the whole world watches on as Australia welcomes in the new year.
This video was uploaded incredibly quickly, being present and embeddable just a few hours after the event. As I’m in the UK, it’s bizarre to watch a new year being welcomed in while I’m still stuck in the last one.
2008 was a tumultuous year and let’s hope 2009 brings better news in terms of the economy and wars being fought around the world. But let’s forget all that just for one night and get utterly drunk while watching the fireworks!
