I suspect that by posting this here and now I’ll probably be joining Stephen Lynch in Hell. The fact I couldn’t help laughing a couple of times probably won’t help my case either.
The 2011 Special Olympics is now under way, with the opening ceremony having taken place on Saturday at the Panathenian Stadium in Athens, home of the original modern Olympics.
This is the 13th staging of the Special Olympics, with 7,000 athletes who have some form of disability competing. And they’re all bigger heroes and heroines than I could ever be.
However. It is also a little funny to watch these athletes compete at times. And this song by Stephen Lynch captures the humor well without being too cruel. I fear it’s cruel enough to condemn those of us who have sampled it to a fiery death however.
